Why would he say keep in touch but not ask for contact information?

I'm leaving my current work, this guy there who I thought was a good friend said keep in touch while I was leaving. We aren't connected through phone or social media. But we got along really well.

If he did want to stay in touch he would've asked for contact information right?

It’s just a common goodbye as he wants to leave things on a good note. If in fact he likes you or wanted to pursue a friendship outside of work he would have already suggested you all hang out before you leaving.

All in all thank him for treating you well but don’t expect to ever see him again.

Yeah true, he literally personally messaged and then called up on the work device for a final good bye. It's just weird for me to accept he doesn't want to stay in touch given we got along well. Or so I thought..

And somewhere I'm still hoping he'd reach out on social media, but now ig i really need to get over this
