Why won’t the guy I’m dating accept my follow request on Instagram? We’re dating/sleeping together?

Also before anyone says anything, I requested to follow him on a fake account before I sent my request and he accepted my fake account. He has kinda weird posts but there’s nothing secretive on his instagram page but he has it as private.
we’ve been dating for 2 months now and I just sent a follow request 5 days ago and he has not accepted my follow. He has been online, I know it. Why won’t he accept my follow? Is be embarrassed or he thinks I’ll change my opinion about him? He has like 150 posts, and some are funny and weird but that’s why I like him :/
