I think it's partly a mindset. For me, it's all about being swept away in things that are not material. Experiences. And having a girl that has fun causally. With a mind set of casual fun.
To have the ability to shop at walmart but still enjoy the riches of life. Clothes can be fun to invest in but I'd rather love a girl that on her day off, grabs a top and bra from walmart causally, while wearing a tank top and track Shorts after we go have fun playing basketball at a park where she purposely sensually blocks my shot 😏 we both go to a hamburger joint after then later during the day we volunteer to help homeless people for example. its simple yet not materially focused. In my mind material has moments rather than a regular occasion. It's shopping at the mall a couple of times a month for something special rather than ten bags. To find a woman that's comfortable to get her hands dirty To see her little son come in the house with poopie pants and sit him down, pull down the pants and set them aside change the diaper wiping her hands with a wipe and washing after. Hands that are not afraid to get the job done. Ones that are not able to because the nails just got done at an expensive place. Even seeing your moms urine on the floor in her old age and going in there with paper towels to wipe it up. When I see a "high maintenance" girl i automatically assume that she isn't marriage material. Yeah, I'd take her home and have sex with her. But I dont expect to have a decent conversation with her.

I’m not a guy, so I don’t know this for sure, but I think it depends on whose money they’re spending. I consider myself to be fairly high maintenance, but I pay for everything myself. I don’t want expensive gifts and dates and stuff, but when it comes to my haircare, skincare, clothing, and personal hygiene. I have very expensive taste. I also spend a ridiculous amount of time on personal care. No one I’ve met has ever had a problem with it, with the exception of my mother, and I get asked out all the time. Certainly more than average.


So my point is, they probably find it annoying if they’re expected to pay for the girls things. But it’s completely possible to have expensive tastes, and to spend a lot of time on health and personal care, without making your partner spend their money on it.

I will say that most but not all high maintenance women have vanity issues when it comes to their looks. They all spent a lot of time and money on their appearance whether that is make up or clothing. While they can be very attractive to look at, a vain woman is not appealing to most men unless they want a trophy wife. Some men will even look at them as a conquest to boast to others that they dated them for a while.

Spending time looking attractive is nice but there is a balance in the middle between frumpy and high maintenance that most guys will find acceptable and be an attractive quality. There's "spending time and effort and a reasonable amount of money to make sure I look good" - which is fine, and then there's "Sex And The City"-levels of high maintenance. The second group of women usually have their priorities WAY out of whack - spending every cent (and every dollar of credit they can) on clothes, shoes, bags, spa treatments, fad diets, makeup, etc. but having zero assets or savings or retirement - OR, they're spending copious amounts of a guy's money.

I'm fine with the first group, and I run QUICKLY away from the second.

High maintenance girls require time, and in today's world where most people have limited spare time because they need to work so much, we usually know we won't be able to satisfy her needs. I think most young adult men are to busy prioritizing things that don't matter to put effort into a relationship and see if itll actually flourish. However I've noticed with every passing year men and women both become more fickle and lose communication skills so any slight problem results in a breakup and why put effort into a relationship that probably won't leave the bedroom anyway.

I think guys are getting really lazy and also require more 'me' time than girls expect. Video games and social media require a lot of time in a man's day.
