Guys, what would you think if your girlfriend told you that she never learned how to swim?

What if she asked you to teach her? Would you find the idea of getting close to her in the water sexy - or would you find it pathetic/embarrassing that she couldn't swim at her age? (Age 29 by the way).

I'd be kind of surprised, but I can barely swim myself. I don't live by an ocean, the nearest lake is hours away, and the river here is way too dangerous to swim in. I'm allergic to chlorine so public pools are out, and our property won't allow personal pools. I learned to swim when I was younger because we used to go to this campsite that have a massive dugout filled with water that was about 6-7 feet deep, but I bet you I haven't swam in at least 8 years?
So I can see how someone could reach their late 20s and not know how to swim. In a lot of places it's not a necessary skill

I would be a little surprised to be honest but I wouldn't think any less of her. I think my second ex never learned how to swim and I thought it was more interesting than anything. Had we stayed together I would have tried to help her learn if she wanted too. Teaching/learning something as a couple can be a great bonding experience and could be romantic and even a lot of fun. Plus some people are just scared of water or just don't like swimming or being wet so there's plenty of reasons someone might not know how to swim. I can swim but I'm terrified of the ocean because of how deep it is.

There's nothing wrong with that at all! It's just an activity, just like many people don't know how to bike, skate, box, drive, cook, etc. There's absolutely nothing shameful or embarrassing about that. I would be positively ENTHUSIASTIC about teaching a girlfriend any skill, let alone one that involves being close, wet, and nearly nude.

My mother does not know how to swim and she is in her late 60s...

Teaching anyone anything is not very sexy to me as I have no patience, if person I teach do not get it first few times, but when, that person learns what I'm teaching, that is very nice feeling and sence of pride.

Before Covid nonsense I've been near public swimming pool 2-7 days/week, even when I lived near the beach with tropical climate, so this is just normal environment for me, and people half naked there all the time and women go there too...

Just to add I played Water polo and at the time I done it there was mixed gender teams as there were not enough players and this is different kind of constant 'running up against' each other and there is more, but no time... I guess I'm just not one of those who get odd near half naked women...

Yes, I like women and I'm not gay...

I'm just able to fully control my body and in different situations I act different...

Whats there to think? Not everybody knows how to swim. It's exciting to have her bod against mine in pool with minimal clothing. It would be bit scary though. I would be scared of her drawing on my watch.

I would happily teach my girl how to swim there is nothing to be embarrassed about. If your boy friend is embarrassed of you he is a bad boy friend period he is supposed to be there to support you same as you for him helping each other learn and helping to fix each others drawbacks and flaws.

It's fine. I so out of practice from not swimming that i don't know how to swim anymore so we'd both be in the same boat. I used to be able to swim when I was a kid.

Sign up for individual lessons from an instructor. When I was a college mid I was life guard and water safety Instructor (swim teacher to kids). You can quickly learn to swim and you will not fear deep water. Just do it, swimming is a great skill. Also, if you ever have kids and they want to swim you want to be able to swim with them.
