Specific. Why that?
Saint Martin of Tours was famed for many things- his courage, compassion, generosity, hatred of geese, and his stubborn, stalwart refusal to comb his hair. Even AFTER he became a bishop.
Why did he hate geese?
He was also a humble man, and didn't WANT to be a bishop, but his parish insisted. So he tried to hide, but his position was given away by the honking of a goose. Among the people of France, it's still traditional to eat goose on Saint Martin's day.
