How about this for motivation: "Hey You! You want to get healthy dontcha?!? Well, go to the gym!"

Or if that didn't do it, how about this one:

Or how about I put someone athletic on it, like this one:

Or how about this girl...she could be you...your burgeoning abs could be glistening in the dim light of a studio too!

How about you are still probably reclined in a chair behind your keyboard eating some cheetohs going, yeah, no, that didn't do it for me, being the more than likely scenario here after seeing that "motivation inspiration."

People wanting to get into health and fitness or change their waistlines or gain some muscle, often say, I have no motivation or how do I get motivation. You know, how can someone possibly find it in them to exercise 4-5-6 times a week to see optimal results?

Well, you're not going to get it from a poster. Posters are nice, but they aren't going to be the thing that gets you out of the door at 6am on a cold frosty morning when you'd rather be sleeping. Your motivation absolutely has to come from within if you intend to sustain your level of working out and eating right in the long term. Wanting to look like so and so celebrity will only get you so far, but if you don't believe in yourself and your potential to want to do a crap ton better when you go to your workouts, than you're doing for yourself eating that bag of cheetohs, you're going to burn out and fail.

A lot of people have to fight those inner voices that say, sit back down, this is easy. This is comfortable. This is familiar, because certainly if you're going from zero to the gym, you'll be having to put in effort, not just to get out the door, but to actually do a quality work out. The minute it gets hard or you maybe puke because your body isn't used to working out or you develop a minor injury, you're going to be tempted to just throw your hands up and give in and give up, but in that moment, you're going to need to tell that quitter in you to STFU so you can keep going.

That motivational voice inside you doesn't always have to be a rah-rah cheerleader either. Just that simple Nike phrase, just do it...adds, kicking and screaming if you have to...is the basics of what motivation really is. Just do it when you're tired from a long day, when you'd rather be sleeping, when you really don't want to, when you're on vacation for 2 weeks, when your favorite show is on (you can DVR it!), when your family is visiting. Tell yourself it's worth it because the alternative is just more of the same.

Now if another Monday morning has rolled by and you haven't done it, maybe you're not ready yet. You've got to want it for yourself, and know that no one else is going to give you that "it" that you need, but you. A lot of people have to hit that rock bottom where they truly see themselves as they are to get to that point, and some just decide one day to start. Even if you fail, keep trying until it sticks because one day, it will be you if you want it bad enough to start and keep going.
