According to the International Labor Organization, human trafficking, which includes commercialized sexual exploitation, forced labor, and domestic servitude, denies freedom to some 20 million people around the world. Fifty-five percent are women and girls.
Although all states have laws that allow the prosecution of human trafficking, suspects are not evenly prosecuted across the country.
Human trafficking is a complex crime that many communities are still trying to understand. The failure to use terms correctly can confuse and mislead audiences, and contribute to authorities’ failure to identify and protect trafficking victims.
Media's Role
The media plays an enormous role in shaping perceptions and guiding the public conversation about human trafficking. Here are some media best practices on how to effectively and responsibly report stories on human trafficking.

Provide jobs, internships, skills training, and other opportunities to trafficking survivors. Human trafficking has been coexisting with us from the very beginning of human civilization.
Indian Law against Human Trafficking
Trafficking in Human Beings or Persons is prohibited under the Constitution of India under Article 23 (1)
Criminal Law (amendment) Act 2013 has come into force wherein Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code has been substituted with Section 370 and 370A IPC which provide for comprehensive measures to counter the menace of human trafficking including trafficking of children for exploitation in any form including physical exploitation or any form of sexual exploitation, slavery, servitude, or the forced removal of organs.
Anti Trafficking Cell (ATC): Anti-Trafficking Nodal Cell was set up in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

NGO
There are thousands of NGO Working in India. I would like to mention one of them. Prerana is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that works in the red-light districts of Mumbai, India to protect children vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. The organization runs three night care centers for children at risk, as well as shelter homes and a residential training center for girls rescued from the trafficking trade.
