The confidence killer not male pattern baldness Alopecia areata

https://uproxx.com/webculture/2011/09/20-of-the-creepiest-celebrities-without-eyebrows/#page/1 When people think of baldness they usually think of total hair loss or only hair loss on the scalp which is only the case for adrogenic alopecia also known as male or female pattern baldness. Male/female pattern baldness doesn't always have a necessary answer as to why or what causes it, but scientists have had a much more clearer answer over the years than before. It seems it's caused by a hormonal imbalance from the mother's x chromosome although male/female pattern baldness does not have a cure it does seem to have a "quick fix" many people have had luck using 5% minoxidal in fully regrowing their hair back and hair transplants. One more trait to bring up is that it only seems to cause thinning to complete loss of the hair in the frontal and and crown of the scalp.

However Alopecia areata is thought to be an auto-immune disease even though there isn't enough scientific evidence to prove this making them question why and what actually causes it. with Alopecia areata complete hair loss is rare too and less than 1% of patients actually have this condition the big difference between Alopecia areata and male/female pattern baldness is that with areata you can lose all of your hair on your scalp and anywhere else in your body such as the pubic region, eyelashes, eyebrows, facial hair in men, leg and arm hair. It is believed that the immune system sees the hair follicles as foregin and attacks its own germ fighting cells as of it were a bacteria or virus resulting in inflammation of the hairs in the skin causing the hair follicles to lye dormat (resting) and fall out. However Alopecia areta is where the patient only suffers from patchy forms of hair loss, but not complete hair loss of the scalp or complete hair loss of the whole body. The good news is that the hairs are not dead they are just resting so they could all grow back the bad news is that the disease is unpredictable and the hair could go into remission and fall right back out again which can be very frustrating.

There are various amount of treatments such as steroid creams although not a very common treatment anymore these days, steroid injections on the scalp which are given 1mm apart from each injection usually followed and repeated after a month and 15-20 shots are given each visit. Other treaments are natural oils, immunotherapy which is a treatment where the clinician irritates the bald spots so much that it tricks the immune system into making it seem there is something wrong with it reversing the process. Minoxidal 5% solution is another treatment option some dermatologists will try to put poison ivy on their patient. Another treatment and most effective option are Corticosteroids pills which are immunosuppressants that help prevent or inhibit the immune system. Many dermatologists are against this because of the adverse effects it can have it is important to note that not every patient will get all of these side effects or even get any it all depends from person to person and how long they are on the medication. It's less likely for full hair regrowth to occur if the alopecia is widespread, occurs before puberty, or if they have psoriasis.

This type of hair loss can really effect your confidence as well it can put the patient at some physical and other health disadvantages as well for instnace hair loss of the eyelashes are crucial cause the eyelashes help protect against debris getting into the eyes, the eyebrows help to prevent sweat, water, and other debris from gettin into the eyes. They also are important in identifying ones face making facial expressions easier to read on ones face. Eyebrows give definition on the forehead/eyes and are seen as attractive. Hair on the scalp and other parts of the body help protect the skin of UV rays from the sun. I just wanted to write this article to spread the awarness and the importance of hair to everybody and the disease. Patients diagnosed with areata should not give up hope though there is still research being done about this illness and recent news and clinical trials are trying to be done for this new drug a 25 year old had taken who had total hair scalp and body hair loss and regrew all of his hair within 3 months. Just in case anyone says anything about wikipedia, wikipedia uses legit reliable sources and references from actual journal articles and you can't just edit anything or add anything on it like you used to.
