I've just started accutane / roaccutane today, does anyone have any tips or good products that I can use if you've been on it before?

I was on it back in the day, it's a miracle drug if you've been through all the other shit that doesn't work. Depending on your size and dosage (which depends on the severity of the acne) you'll probably get dry lips and maybe eyes, so a good lip balm without petroleum in it and a non greasy day moisturizer. My eyes were only dry towards the end of the course so maybe hold off on buying eyedrops for now. With me the acne got worse for a little while before going away and never coming back!

Probably a total of two weeks, it sort of built up for a few days, was bad for a week or so, then I stopped getting spots almost completely, it tightened up my pores too and my skin looked really good. It still does, I would say I've got normal skin now, still the very occasional pimple but that's the same as everyone else. I'm really grateful I saw a good dermatologist who prescribed it for me!

It was years ago, if memory serves me it was probably a week or 10 days, something like that.

Can I ask? when did you start getting bad acne while using Accutane, because I'm on seventh day and still didn't see the worst

Um roughly from then on for about a week, I remember it being very bad on the ninth day, but cleaning up pretty quickly. good luck on your journey to clear skin :)

I went on Accutane years ago & it completely cleared my skin and haven't had acne since. just be aware that its a POWERFUL medication. Your skin, lips, etc will dry out. you need to go on birth control, you need to get your blood monitored every month. I think its completely worth it though and it worked for me. Just buy a really heavy duty lotion and make sure to monitor yourself because it really is a dangerous medication! im sure your dermatologist will help you out :)

Thanks :) did you ever wear makeup to cover it up? If so did it peel loads with the dryness? How long were you on it for?

to cover my acne? yeah I did, not a ton though cause I was like 14 haha I think I just used some cover up. and I didn't get extremely dry skin like most people do, but my brother was on it though and his skin got SO dry and peeled a bit. Try some Aveeno lotions! & I was on it for a few months I believe! 3-4 I think. I didn't have severe acne, just some on my forehead mostly.. the worse your acne is the longer they'll have you on it I believe
