What are burger parties made from? Am I going crazy?

I feel like crying right now. For the past two weeks I have not eaten any real food because I've recently discovered that every food has some sort of disgusting thing in it. I'm naturally a picky eater and learning this has not helped. I'm even loosing weight. I used to have a 24 inch waist and now I have a 23 inch one, I also weigh 97 lb now. Everything i eat, I break apart to see what's inside it and then I eat it. So please tell me what burger patties are made from and how they're made. Could it possible that there are insect legs in a chicken patty?

1. Burger patties are made of various edible and perfectly safe to eat (if you are eating at a place which is FDA or similar approved of popular class) which is why billions of people eat it and stay healthy too i. e. no poisoning (burgers are well known to be fattening lol)
2. Being picky is ok but I think you are on the border of being phobic. Get your facts right and senses in place young lady lest you ruin your health in this endeavor
3. For one Burger Patty doesn't involve insect eggs and if you can eat eggs that chicken or other birds lay, you are eating eggs isn't it :)
4. It's all up in the head aka psychological. Go ahead and eat stuff w/o being paranoid. More the paranoid you get, only you'll wind up losing :)
5. Since you want to know what goes into the patty of a chicken burger here is one

In a medium saute pan over medium heat add, 1-ounce oil and all raw vegetables and saute until translucent. Remove and cool.

Add veggies to raw chicken and mix thoroughly. Add all dry ingredients and egg. Thoroughly mix all ingredients and form into 4 patties. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

In same saute pan add remaining 1-ounce olive oil, and cook patties 2 to 3 minutes per side.

Serve with ketchup and mustard on toasted sesame buns with lettuce and tomato.

This sounds like something none of here are qualified to assist with... I am SO sorry to hear that. It sounds like a miserable case of OCD or something similar to it. I can assure you that your fears are leaning a little towards the extreme. If you go to a nice, good quality farmer's market you will be perfectly fine. Stay away from fast foods, avoid pre-ground meats etc.

Get a nice whole chicken breasts with fresh vegetables, wash it thoroughly and chow down. There will be no bug legs, no dust or dirt... Just delicious food!

I suffered from something similar due to a mouse infestation in a house some years back and really, I was terrified of eating anything for fear that a rodent might have beat me to it. I would analyze everything, throw out perfectly good food, it really sucked!

So yeah, whole foods Marianne! Get a cut of beef, not ground beef, a chicken breast and not ground chicken. Eat! Don't wither away on us!

I would say it was a few months before it was out of sight out of mind. It was a real pain in the arse though. Anything that was not fresh, brand new and completely sealed was not on my edibles list. As just a general rule of thumb I avoid most ground products in favour of the clean cuts of meat to be on the healthier side of things these days.

@dartmaul15 Had a good suggestion about seeing a butcher. You won't find better cuts of meat than from the source!

I think that this is just a phase and hopefully I'll stop thinking about this very soon. As soon as I'm old enough I'll start eating healthy too because it's clear with the family that I have that they're not going to start buying healthier things any time soon. And yeah I'll try that. Lol

There aren't insects in chicken patties. There are chickens. Keep eating protein as your primary nutrition, not carbohydrates. Don't worry about sensationalist stories.

There are insects bit in all our foods. The thing is not to focus on that. They are so microscopic that it won't affect you. I recommend therapy to help you eat.

Obviously some companies add stuff.

My best suggestion is go seeing a butcher and buy the meat from there. Guaranted fresh, and properly prepared.

At some places you can even ask them to grind the meat in front of you. Not all places do that, but some do.
And trust me, properly prepared meat like that will taste WAY better than the one you get in supermarkets and crap.
Plus good putchers who know their field can gvie you good recomendations for how to prepare different kinds of meat (like how to make a good beef, and so on).

The whole "bug parts in meat" is overhyped, overdone, and scare propaganda used by vegans to scare people away from eating any form of meat.
So no, i don't believ it's anything to worry about!

The bullshit about insects in meat is a lie. And it's not dangerous. Let me put it in perspective. If the permille level of insect pieces in meat were replaced by the venom of a black mamba, it wouldn't be noticeable at all (fiy, a black mamba bite contain enough venom to kill 20-25 people). You wouldn't even get marginally ill or feel anything. That's how little it is.

The cocroach that's crushed up in the meat? What if I told you that I actually found something weird in the chicken patty that I was eating? It looked like an insects legs and it was black. I found two pieces and they were noticeably darker than the patty because chicken is white. Maybe vegans don't lie after all. I'm pretty sure it's not some sort of spice either. (group) therapy, and fear mastery is what they use. Make you realize it's an irrational action/fear, and then make you master the fear so you can fight it and ignore it.
No meds are needed.
