I thought we as the American public were supposed to decide about things like this? You know, told both sides of the story by both supporters and non-supporters then put to a vote?

What happened to this country? Why did we let these bastards just take things from us and not do anything about it? We keep letting them do these things eventually they're going to control everything from what we drive to what we eat since global warming is a hoax to create panic so a select few people can create a world government (looking at you Maurie Strong and Al Gore).

If Obama happens to read this (and he probably will via the Patriot Act, hey, isn't he supposed to be against that? Why doesn't he repeal it?) then I have a suggestion for him, STOP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING period. You're spending us into ruin, we're going to be in so much debt over the next 10 years that MY great grandchildren will still be paying for it.

You wanted change America, well here it is, curtosy of higher taxes, less freedom for yourselves and gradually bigger and bigger government, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

That is a democracy. America is a "representative democracy" (aka a republic) ...so now just imagine that you just paid 100 representatives $180,000/year each to vote "yea" when all you wanted them to vote is "nay." Do you feel like you got your money's worth yet? lol

We elected them because we have no choice but to elect people to represent us, it wouldnt've mattered who we elected though unless we put a bunch of republicans in there (as if that would've been much better).

Politicians are only out there for themselves, they don't care about the public.

I think they care about the public initially, but it eventually just becomes a job to them, and no one wants to lose their job, so they just keep doing what they think people want in order to get re-elected rather than what's best for the country. Granted, what's best for the country is a matter of opinion.

I've noticed that democrats aim to control everything while the republicans aim to steal from the poor and give to the rich. It's the same for all of them who ever acctually gain power. The republicans aren't against this bill because they want the best for the public, they're against it because it helps the poor and hurts the rich while per usual the middle class gets screwed on both ends.

That's because few politicians are moderate. Too many Americans choose not to register with a party because they don't feel strongly enough about any of them, so you have the extremists voting for candidates with similar views in primaries. When it comes down to the final race, that's what we're left with. I think the country would be better off without political parties.

It would be, it would be even better if we didn't have representitives but rather just voted on our own behalf.
