Roller skates or roller blades?

So I've always wanted to be able to roller something.

When I was 10 years old I fell off a horse and I fell on to the jump. I landed on the small of my back and I was paralysed for a week and a half. Shortly afterwards, I tried my first time roller blading. I fell backwards onto my back and ended up straight back in hospital.

I have ice skated since then - I went along by myself by sticking my bum out and going slow!

I keep thinking roller skating looks safer than blading but can anyone give me advice? I really want to learn skating/ blading or ice skating?

Skating is easier than blading. If you can ice skate then you can roller blade. I however can't so i skate. It's old school and funny but it works. Skateboarding is even easier.

I have only really ice skated. I say go for whichever one can you find someone to teach you on. I know roller derby teaams teach a lot of people.

Well if you have practice ice skating roller bladding will feel more familiar. I've never roller skated before but I've used roller blades and they're not that hard.

I read you didn't do well ice skating. I'd start with roller skates. It's easier. If you ever want to move to blades the transition won't be as hard.

Roller blading is so much easier than ice skating.
