add-attention deficit disorder
Why do some people think adhd/add isn't real?
add-attention deficit disorder
A lot of disorders are so over-diagnosed these days. From what I've seen, especially those like ADD/ADHD, aspergers syndrome, anxiety and depression. People claim to have the disorders and even self-diagnose when they actually don't, and this really downplays what the disorder actually is and what it is like to live with it. My brother has aspergers syndrome and ADHD. It's something that's pretty obvious and most people realise there's something "different" about him, even though it's only mild. It's not easy to live with, both for the sufferer and the people the sufferer lives with. It really annoys me when people are like "I have aspergers sydnrome, because I'm awkward in social situations". No. That's what what aspergers syndrome is. And when people hear this they think, "Well in that case, half the people in the world might have aspergers, since there are many socially awkward people". They become skeptical and think it's all just made up stuff.
Because they're stupid? 😛
There's even still people thinking the earth is the centre of the universe and that the first two humans were Adam and Eve 😂
Maybe (and I'm just speculating) because it used to be (and may still be) over-diagnosed. Too many people were given the diagnosis who hadn't been through the rigorous and thorough examinations to really establish that the person had it. So if there are too many people walking around saying that "Oh, I'm ADD, that's why ____" some people will think it's being used as a crutch. I'm not saying any of that is right, I'm just speculating.
Yeah I figured that probably had something to do with it. Since when I compare my adhd though I also have Asperger. Just those people seem normal to me. I don't see how they have it. Since they don't seem like they are losing their minds or that it's making their life extremely hard. When I hear those people I want to shake them and yell,"TELL ME YOUR SECRET AS TO HOW YOUR ABLE TO ACT NORMAL!" lol
I know people who think they know better than doctors, and that ad (h) d, diabetes, depression, and all sorts of things aren't real... And I know of others who are 110% sure that *all* vaccines are 110% safe and could not possibly cause any unforseen problems because unforseen reprocussions aren't a thing that has ever happened in medical science...
Everybpdy thinks they know the *real* truth because they read/saw something somewhere, so now they're an expert, unlike those fools of a different opinion who just think they know everything just because they read/saw something somewhere...
Thanks for mho 😊

I don't fully believe in it, but I don't doubt it either.
To me the things I don't understand are neutral because I don't understand them. It doesn't make sense to me to feel about something that I have little information on.
I will treat people as well as I know how, be them add/adhd/bipolar/gay/democrat/whatever. But as with other things I don't understand like aliens and ghosts and such, without having enough information on it, I don't have an opinion, or a stance. : )
Because those same people have no idea what it is and they're not medical experts of any kind.
People tell me the same thing about bipolar not being a real problem or being a disability.
Don't let these people get to you. If someone says that to you just say "And where did you get your medical diploma?" I can guarantee that they don't have one.
I don't think it isn't real, but I think it is diagnosed way too easily and too many people just want bonus-sympathy-boints for saying they have those.
Those people are morrons I have add my sister has adhd. People make up excuses now saying they have add to get a break in class
I didn't know some people didn't think it was real
I can't see why they would
They're ignorant about learning disabilities. Not surprise though.
I think that the problem is that it often gets misdiagnosed and over diagnosed so it kind of like lost its effect.
xD they want to think that we're just making up a lie.
Becaused it's overdiagnosed
I don't know but it's real alright xD
probably cuz it's common. thus it balances out.
It seems like a convenient excuse.
Are you meaning that saying you have adhd/add is a convenient excuse?
Yes, people who suck at focusing or suck at school can just say they have ADD. Then they get drugs for it too.
I don't see how it's any different from people saying they have OCD all the time.
I hate those people who just run to that just because they can't focus a little. If other people spent a whole week with me. Thanks to having adhd I would drive them completely insane. Plus after the week is up I will have forgotten what I even said to them, their name, and anything else towards them.
People who truly have it make others feel horrible. That worst part is that we don't even mean to do it or even know we are doing it. medication doesn't fully help the person with it focus like everyone else. It just makes it more manageable the rest you have to work hard to improve it. Focusing is just a small part of adhd. There is WAY more to it than that.
I've known tons of people who "had ADD/ADHD" and they didn't seem problematic to me.
Well then I want to know their amazing secret to how their adhd/add didn't make life hard for them.
Because they didn't really have it probably
