Is it possible to lose 16-18 kilos in 3 months?

Alrighty! So... in the past 4 years since leaving highschool I've gained about 20kg and was wondering if it's actually possible to healthily lose between 16-18kgs in the space of 3 months? If it is possible what should I eat? What sort of exercise should I be doing and how often? Also what do you guys do to keep yourselves motivated? I know generally wanting to lose weight should be motivation enough but it never seems enough to get me over the fear of going into a gym and working out in front of other. Thankyou in advance for any comments/tips given
