Does melatonin truly work because I’m only getting 2-4 hours of sleep each night?

I’m only getting max 2-4 hours of sleep each night and I’m tired throughout the day part of it is Im always stressed and possibly could be my new birth control but doubt it. I’ve never slept well but I always got sleep. For the past month I’ve literally couldn’t sleep. Will melatonin truly work? I only want gummies I don’t like pills.
Does melatonin truly work because I’m only getting 2-4 hours of sleep each night?
