How to deal with exsistential anxiety?

I get anxiety attacks almost every night over the meaning of life, what comes after death, the future, old age, my family dying, as well as myself dying. I've tried to talk to friends about it but they don't seem to understand. I think I should probably talk to a therapist about it, or get on like a prescription medicine. I tend to get them when I am alone, and daydreaming distracts me from it but sometimes makes it worse. Any tips on how to stop them? They're really painful for me mentally and emotionally and I don't know what to do. ;(
