Not trying to be rude, but PTSD is not a mild mental illness. Speaking from experience. I (probably) wouldn't have depression or anxiety if I didn't have PTSD. It says in the name "traumatic". People that have PTSD are often survivors of rape, molestation, physical or emotional abuse, neglect, or war. It causes extreme flashbacks, disassociation, and a lot of other things. Again, not trying to be rude, just trying to inform. I agree with everything else your saying though!
I have panic attacks along with agoraphobia. If no one here knows nothing about or never heard of it, it's a fear of open spaces. Outside, is an open space. So yes, I have the most difficulty going outside. I'm on meds and working on beating it. I had it all my life.. Just no one talked about it when I was young and needed it the most. Yes, it's all real.
I agree that we dont know much about the brain, but the medicines that they are prescribing are, at least for some people (including myself), saving their life. The medicines I take not only keep me from spiraling into my negative thoughts, but stop me from getting aggressive, hallucinating, and hearing voices.
@sabesauce sometimes it may be worth the trade off, but I must believe there is a better way to treat these disorders, these medicines are damaging over the years
I'm a woman who is attracted to women and I'm not going to seek treatment for my "illness" Homosexuality has also been found in the animal kingdom.
