What are some good fat-blasting foods to eat when you're on a diet?

in addition to exercise and diet, what are some vital things to eat that really make a difference? I've heard grapefruit, almonds and blueberries are good...what else? what do you eat throughout your daily day? how do you avoid convenient foods and fast food restaurants and choose wisely to eat healthy? even some cafes and sandwich bars here in new york have like turkey wraps or chicken Cesar salads that are like 500-600 calories I was like what the hell! its so hard to find healthy foods nowadays please advise!
