What is wrong with me? Why is this heat making me miserable?

Okay, first off I have lived in the same place my entire life. So I should be used to the heat right? WRONG!

This Summer is supposedly the hottest we have had in a while. It's only 78 degrees outside at the moment...but in the past months it has gotten into the hundreds.

You see my body for some reason is constantly hot...like I have had friends come up and grab my arms...and then touch my head to see if I was burning up with a fever or something. I have had a few go so far to even take my temperature. Yet, I never had a fever. My body is just that hot.

The only time my body has ever been able to stand it's constant heat, IS WHEN IT'S 25-35 DEGREE WEATHER! Some may say it's may be my weight, a certain gland in my body that is swollen, or I'm just making this whole heat thing up. TRUST ME...I'm not at all.

Does anyone ever have this problem like I do?

Can there be a reason I'm constantly hot like this?

You're overweight, which makes you more susceptible to the fatiguing effects of heat, as well as fair-skinned, which makes you more susceptible to the effects of the sunlight itself. Stay in the shade to protect your skin and lose some weight to reduce the "draining" effect heat and humidity have on your body.

However, you may also have a medical condition of some sort that compounds these effects. Do you eat lots of high sodium foods? Reducing sodium intake (from salt and processed/boxed/canned foods) and increasing potassium intake (from fresh fruits) can have a strong effect on how your body perceives temperature.

I understand on the weight thing, and I'm going to work on that. But I didn't know my sodium intake would affect how I'm able to handle the heat. I may have to start eating more fruits. I'm just glad That I like a lot of fruits or this would be hard.

It's the end of summer. Just like the people up North we're starting to look forward to winter.

Your body may run a little warmer then the normal. I know mine does. I sweat a lot because I drink a lot of water. I know that you don't want to be sweaty but are you drinking a lot or enough water?

I carry a bottle with me throughout the day, and always take sips and refill it when I run out.

I see that you live in Louisiana. I'd be hot & sweating like a dog down there too.

Being acclimated to a climate "because you were born there" doesn't mean that your body can automatically handle it.

I grew up in Chicago where it was humid in the summer & I just melted. I was going to move to Florida (couldn't take the Chicago winters anymore) It didn't seem that humid to me (because of growing up in Chicago) then I went out to Nevada & Arizona. where it's not humid. It was great for me...

and it still is except for Monsoon season when the humidity gets up to about 60 percent.( In Chicago it was closer to 80) Now I feel that & sweat. In Chicago 60 percent was comfortable so what I'm saying is your body acts the way it needs to to cool itself off. Don't worry just keep drinking water.

I live in maryland and just recently it cooled down...i wore practically nothing outside...it use to be 100 degress with 85 percent humidity...but my body doesn't get hot when the weather cools down. I just feel according to heat and weather.

Is this summer the first time you have experienced this problem? If so, this sounds like a mild form of hyperthermia caused by overexposure to high temperatures. Does your skin feel dry? Do you have headaches, feel nauseated?

no, I usally experience this year round. my skin isn't dry usually. No I never get headaches, but every once and a while I will get a little nauseated.

Do you constantly feel hot, all year round, or does it come and go? And can you remember when this first started or has it always been this way?

Yea I do feel this way year round. It's started when I was in high school really; wanna say my junior/senior year.

Did you start taking any hormones or meds at that time?

not that I can remember...the only thing I know for sure that I was taking at that time was Zoloft and Adderall. I have taken that since I was ver young, and still take it to this day.
