Am I Addicted To Pills?

Usually I just drink water, fruits and veggies (eat). But, say I go out to eat or something I have to rush around and if I don't take 3 laxatives 30 min before its time to eat I usually don't go eat because I can't stand the thought of taking that many calories in, I know they say laxatives only get rid of water weight, but it helps me feel better I would say I take laxatives every other day if not every day am I addicted? I did struggle with my weight up until a few years ago

Im not going to see a "professional" I'm not the type to ever go see any kind of doctor, I stopped going to see my gyno because I hate being touched by anyone (besides my boyfriend). So I refuse to go to a doctor, if I die from this oh well. I just wanted to know if it was an addiction but thanks everyone

I've struggled with my weight since I was a child. You sound like you definitely need to speak to a professional. Its sounds to me like you have an eating disorder and really should seek help. Is it beyond possible for you to stop on your own at this point? It sound more mental then physical...you are mentally addicted to the action of taking the pills before you eat. The fear of gaining lost weight keeps this mental addiction alive. Laxatives are meant for a specific reason,to ease waste from your intestines...a very small percentage of water weight may be lost in this process. By taking these pills before every meal your body is becoming dependent on them to secrete waste...which could eventually ,if stopped on your own, cause major problems! Continual over stimulation can cause unresponsive bowels... A blockage doesn't sound very dangerous but in fact it could be deadly if not treated promptly and the symptoms can be very misleading. On top of that it can cause kidney damage,kidney stones,...my goodness,so many more problems with life threatening consequences! I am not judging you,nor am I trying to scare you but This IS a problem. Please seek care and professional help. Also fruits and veggies are natural laxatives so taking them is not necessary. If you are not going to the bathroom while eating just that then that is your bodies way of telling you you need to eat more.

At age 15 I was approximately 155 pounds,5'10...I found my moms diet pills in her room and stole some. Took 3 times the amount I should have...I remember not eating for an entire week! I did this for 3 years. This was when diet pills contained very dangerous ingredients that could have killed me in the amount I was taking in one shot,multiple times a day. I lost weight quickly,got down to 130 pounds in less then a month...Things stayed that way for a bit but I gained it back plus some! Its always been a struggle...Stop focussing on your weight and focus on being healthy...its the only way to achieve happiness with your body. I eventually got pregnant,skyrocketed my weight to 250 after having a 10lb little girl.(The thought of my little girl struggling the way you are and the way I did just kills me! ) It took me a bit but I lost it. By eating all my meals,healthy choices and lifestyle changes. The weight will always be an issue until you choose to be healthy. I'm down to 150 pound at 28 years old and I feel fabulous. I look better then I did at my thinnest 130 pounds! The mental and physical differences from doing things the healthy and unhealthy way are indescribable. Take care of your body and mind first a foremost...stop now,get counseling and know that you are beautiful no matter what! You get one life...its shouldn't be spent this way.

you have an E.D.,you should either go to a support group,a therapist,and I don't think it's this serious yet,but if you let it get worse-you could end up in rehab. or the big box.

and laxatives can cause rectal bleeding,vomiting,damage to intestines-chronic constipation,nausea,fainting...does this sound like it's worth it? not to mention you're throwing your life away on an illness.

I mean to stay skinny ya it does kinda sound like its worthless. My parents force me to eat when I am around the, so what am I suppose to do?! I don't want to eat that unhealthy stuff! The way I see it is at least I'm not eating it and then throwing it up, causing damage to my teeth, id die if my teeth were ruined

well if you keep this up,you'll really die.you don't have to eat unhealthy,eat healthy food,just don't limit your calories to some crazy amount like 800 and stop using laxatives.

my calorie intake has been under 500 for a while now, I don't know how to measure the calories in fruit and veggies :/

ho.ly. sh*t. girl,you need like 2000 calories a day! you don't even have to count them,i'm vegan and I only counted my calories a couple times so I know I'm eating enough,and I go up to 3000-4000 and I'm skinny! you don't have to count calories,just count your grams of protein and take a b12 supplement,

I take B12, well I don't like to eat over 500, my whole family is over weight I feel as if it is genetic (and it is possible that it is genetic, even though many say its an excuse it can be a real cause)

Actually I'm 22, lol I never messaged GAG to get my age changed, so I'm not as young as I seem :/. I don't work out a lot only when I walk around at work and they say burn as many calories as you eat so walking around work probably burns maybe 600 calories because I have a very physical job, if I ate more it would require me to go to the gym that I don't have time for

1500 would be burned even if you just sat around,if you have a physical job you need about 2000,you don't spend calories only when you work out,just being alive burns calories

starvation only makes your body hold onto fat once it gets food-it doesn't know when it will be starved again so it prepares itself,you need to eat healthy,and often,and keep active if you want to lose weight.

The goal in life is not to avoid calories. The goal is to eat an appropriate number of calories per week, getting in good nutrition, and enjoying it at the same time.

You seem stuck in thinking that calories are bad. Unless you are overeating all the time, calories are not bad.

Fruit, water, veggies and water are not a full diet, and will destroy your metabolism and body.

the only thing that could make it healthier is eating fish, chicken etc white meat not red. So what's the big deal with eating fruits and veggies and drinking a lot of water if it keeps me full and laxatives once or twice a week to go eat with my family. If society didn't drowned me into thinking skinny was the way to go I wouldn't do this but when I was fat and over weight nobody loved me or wanted me or wanted to talk to me I was just bullied, so I had to find a way to drop the weight fast so ya

Eating fruits and vegetables and drinking water are fantastic. Please don't stop doing any of those.

In a fat loss phase, I'd agree, - the above plus fish or lean meat with something for calcium would probably work well.

What you're doing is very difficult. People who are alcoholics can quit, smokers can quit, but you can't 'quit food' to end bad habits, so it is more difficult.

We usually go to dennys every Friday and sometimes go to Chinese through out the week. The thing is my boyfriend is just like me :/ I couldn't figure out how he was staying the same weight until I went to his house after dinner one night and he got sick! I use to weigh 290 I'm down to 170 and I still feel fat.

id say so, id also say you probably have an eating disorder especially if you feel deathly afraid of eating. you're irrational and illogical. laxatives doesn't stop your body from processing calories. feeling a need to take laxatives everyday id say is an addiction, get help.

I was addicted to diet pills and laxatives for about 2 years...I lost 40 pounds in one summer and I'm now 5'6 and barely above 100 pounds...take it from someone who's been there...get help if you feel yourself becoming addicted to your weight...it won't get any better.

Why though? You can see your rib cage which is a major turn off and your spinal cord down your back. It's super gross. Seeing bones is disgusting. You can see my collarbone and some of my sternum and I find it repulsive. Although no matter how many weight gainers I do or take my body cannot put on weight. I have tried over 3 years

im not in the same situation, I put on weight by crazy and id have to lose at least 150 to even see any of my bones I'm no where near being to skinny like that
