I've had my job for about 3 months. My manager likes me and tells me I'm doing really well. I love working there, but I need to change my availability because it's just gotten to be too much. I'm in college so I'm always off on my school days which are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Other than that, I'm always available. Now that school has started back up again, I have too much on my plate. I know what shifts work for my schedule and I know what doesn't work at all. I had to sign up for Friday classes along with my Tuesdays and Thursdays so I have to ask for Fridays off now. I would like to tell my manager I prefer working after 12pm any other day I'm available because then I can get up early and do schoolwork. But I don't know if that's a stupid reason. I know there are at least 2 other people who only work closing shifts and I really would prefer doing that too. She's very laid back and seems really understanding. I'm just not sure if I should tell her this.
School is the perfect reason to change your work schedule. I was also working while at university and, for me, my education came first. You don't want your school work to be affected due to working too much. At the end of the day you need to put yourself first and make sure you can balance your work life and your studies.

It's as good a reason as any. Talk to your manager. See what you can work out
