Do you think Johnny "Football" Manziel will be a good pro QB?

I think this kid is as overrated a prospect as I've seen in recent memory. You can point to his college performance, but we've seen time and again that that means nothing, the NFL is a different game. I hear talk of him even going #1 overall, and that to me is absolutely crazy.

As a college player, there's no denying that he's electric. The guy just makes plays. He has escapability like crazy. But I just don't see him as an NFL QB. He makes so many questionable decisions. He makes these great plays to shake off rushers, but then he'll throw a ball into double or even triple coverage. Maybe Mike Evans will come down with that vs Rice, but in the NFL the DB is coming down with that 9 times out of 10. Also, he makes these big runs when guys are open. Why? He's listed as 6'1, 210, which means he's probably really 5'11, 200. Similar size to Mike Vick, and he's proven he can't withstand an NFL beating. I think he gets broken in half once he's playing against other fast guys that are now 50 lbs bigger than him.

The big thing is his personality. Colossal douche bag. Spoiled rich kid, thinks he's the greatest. Too caught up in being Johnny Football. I can't imagine this kid with money in his pocket. I just don't think he can handle the fame.

I know he's heavily hyped, but I think its just that...HYPE. Add in that he'll likely go to a bad team, and its just not a recipe for success.

He needs to be with the right team with good qb coaching otherwise I can see him being a flop. He runs wayyyy to much instead of looking to find an open receiver. Just imagine some of the receiver divas in the NFL and the crying they'll do when the ball doesn't come their way enough because he's busy running. His flawed mechanics can be fixed with the right coaching, but if he ends up in a dump like Cleveland (19 starting qb's since 1999 and counting) he'll be Tebow pt 2 and out of the league within 3-5 years. I agree with you on the personality aspect, I was beyond tired of hearing about him after the heisman, and now it's the draft. I'm just hoping some surly linebacker cracks him in half as a 'welcome to the NFL kid' reminder.

Thats a good point about diva WRs. He won't be the only show in town like at Texas A&M. And his personality just sucks. I see someone just decking him in the locker room. I was a linebacker myself (not pro or anything obviously) and I would be absolutely SALIVATING for the chance to light this kid up, then stand over his unconscious body doing his stupid little "money" gesture. Maybe Patrick Willis or something can take care of that for me, haha.

I agree, his personality is real shitty, but like you said that bitch can play some ball. Now that the NCAA is going to have a playoff we'll really see what he's made of. Drew Brees is a small QB as well but he has an O line that takes care of him so did Vick when he was with the AF. If he has good pocket protection he'll be okay. I don't think he'll have as many big plays because these defensive backs that are getting recruited now are some beast. He may have won the Heisman as a freshman, I doubt he'll win a championship as a rookie. If he does I'll just have to be a hater cause ain't no way in hell one player can be that lucky.

Thats one of my concerns, he had Jake Matthews holding him down, plus he AND Luke Joekel the year before when he won the Heisman. Of course he has all kinds of time to make plays. The guys in front of him in the NFL will be just as talented, but their competition will be much better too. You're right about the DBs too. With all the running QBs the league is trending towards, they have to be bigger and better tacklers than in years past. 5'10 180 won't survive vs Cam Newton.

I haven't really thought about it,but I agree-the NFL is way different and there's a chance he just may not make it. what uf he loses his 'game'?

Personally,I think it's a bad move on his part to quit school to play ball. I get whete hw's coming from but I just think he should at least finish school and get his degree.

I'm not sure how good his arm is and I think it really comes down to that. My guess is he won't have much success. Maybe he'll be similar to Russell Wilson but I doubt he throws the ball as well.

Thats what I'm thinking too. I'm looking forward to the combine to see if he can at least make all the throws, even just in shorts and a T-shirt. I've been a big Russell Wilson guy since college, and it looks like I was right on him. But the difference is his personality. I love it. I'd strap up and go to war with that kid any day. Good guy, great leader, but also not bigger than the team. College teammates are probably on JM's jock, but NFL egos will react differently to his shenanigans.

His decision making on field was questionable in the NCAA, despite the success he experienced. A significant improvement is a must if he is to succeed in the NFL.

He's rumored to be coming here to Cleveland. I hope he doesn't. The QB that got us three consecutive wins last year, got hurt. I think he's fine now and I think they may start him, I hope!
