I love that, Lauri. My own vision of Christmas spirit is summed up in the message of A Christmas Carol.
Did you get to see "The Man Who Invented Christmas" yet?
Oh yes. It was wonderful. I'm a huge Dickens fan.
I bought dvd's of it and gave them to friends after I saw it at the theater when it first came out 2 years ago so now we know there are at least 2 Dickens fans :)
Thank you for MHG Mr Lliam, you are so sweet!
☮️ & 💜, Lauri. :-)
The date was roman pagan tho, its was saturnalia, you think the Romans would pick a nordic date to celebrate their new religion? They just repurpused their old festivities
@Piteka5 It was celebrated all across Europe until Christianity was forced on all the European tribes. It happened in Europe exactly like it did with Native people in America and Australia, they were subjugated and forced into one society. The reason being to make money.
That's my opinion, too!
(Wow, why thank you Lliam! I really appreciate your kindness!)

Great comment, stardust. You're right, even theologians admit that Jesus wouldn't have been born in the middle of winter. But the Roman church chose that date in order to co-opt the celebration of Saturnalia.Anyway, I'm with you. I really like Christmas trees and Christmas lights. It's fun to drive around and see the ornate displays on some homes, especially when entire neighborhoods participate. I love it!
I’m glad somebody else loves it too! 😊 it really is nice and relaxing. Especially when hardly anyone now days enjoys doing it, I get the roads to myself
There are some absolutely, unbelievably incredible displays. One year, my wife and I and two other couples went on a limo tour of the best neighborhoods in Sacramento for Christmas lights. We got to drink wine (or whatever) and see some amazing displays. Plus, the limo would stop and let us out when we wanted to see the displays up close or take photos. It was really fun.

You're not the only one that's for sure! 😇
More like commercial propaganda.
