If you have only been dating someone for less then 2 months, should you get them a Christmas Gift?

I think it depends on how long you've known the individual.
By that I mean just because you've been dating for only two months, did you know them before you were officially dating? Or are they just some person you met and decided to date after two months?

If it's the former, then yeah, why not! I don't know about some of y'all, but typically most of the guys I wind up dating, I've known or befriended them beforehand anyway, so there's already that familiarity there. So of course I would buy him a gift because I KNOW him and it wouldn't be awkward or weird.

Now if it's someone you don't know that well or you just got together? That's a judgment call. No, you're not entitled to, but if you want to get them something cheap and simple: a gift card, candies, their favorite food or drink, etc... sure!
Just don't go broke trying to impress someone, only for the relationship to possibly not last past the holidays.

Of course you can. But a couple of guidelines may help. Try to get something personal that'll be really appreciated, don't try to get something useful. Also don't try to spend too much on it.


Keep to those and you'll have the makings of something not over the top but in keeping with a well received gift for a 2 month relationship.

I met my first girlfriend in November 1995, I can faintly remember that we did not exchange Christmas presents but I do believe, for Valentine's day of 1996 I got
her a small gift and between an engagement ring, She got me a Birthday gift
for February 9, 1996, but I believe not long after she broke it off with me so there
A lot of stuff went on and my Grand-dad was sick and told my Mom to tell me
don't send her any more letters, someway he new or God was telling him that
I was sending bad mail to my ex-girlfriend and we went to the magistrate and
he left me off on a warning but that ended everything for us

I would get them something, sure.
Of course, I wouldn't buy them expensive jewelry, or anything along those lines, but I would take advantage of the opportunity to be thoughtful in some way.

Maybe give them a candy bar I already know they like, or a personalized card with an inside joke.
Something entirely non-oppressive that doesn't put pressure on them, but nevertheless demonstrates that I acknowledge their role in my life as someone I appreciate who could very well become a major part of my life.

I'd say why not, maybe not an expensive one like a ring but a thoughtful one, something maybe 20 bucks, to show that you care, even if your only together for another month or so, it's nice to spread a little cheer, Especially if it's just enough to show them that you care

Maybe a card, but gifts are a hard thing to navigate. Some people will understand if you don't, as it's too early, some will think it creepy or too pressy, otherwise may feel anger or forgotten if you don't. Best just to ask them if they mind getting a gift or not, but watch the body language, some use it as a test

If you're casually dating a few people I would say no unless you see something particularly special there.

But if you're dating one person and you see things continuing past the 2 month part and there's a certain level of seriousness already then yea get them a gift.

Especially if you've had sex and some intimacy with one another.

I think you should discuss it with them and decide if you are going to get each other gifts.
Personally my ex and I met in late October, went exclusive in mid November, and we got each other presents. Nothing expensive though. Neither of us spent over $40 on our gifts

It's not really necessary, but if you feel like you want to give that person something then do so. I think that person would be so happy and thankful you remembered him/her.

Just discuss that with your partner. There's no hard and fast rule. You will not know what they want unless you ask, and there's nothing wrong with "is it okay to get you a present this Christmas" or "do you want to exchange gifts".

Yes! Even if we are not dating. Personally, i like giving gifts, mainly handmade or not too expensive. I like seeing smiles on people face when they got my gifts.

I would give her some simple, cheap and small yet thoughtful. You can buy scented bath soap shape like flower petals on Amazon for 10 bucks.

It’s a friendly gesture. If she likes you she will care more about the sentiment than the price tag.
