I'm 5'7 and I weigh 172 lbs... I'm panicking. What should I do?

Yea that's over weight. Depending on your body type and muscle mass it's not excessively over weight. But you could stand to lose some weight.
Just remember that being over weight is a symptom of something else, mostly likely some combination of diet and exercise. Try to cut out obvious high calorie foods/drinks, and get some more exercise. You should be doing both of those thing anyway. You probably don't need to make major changes in your life, just tweak a few of the obvious things and that may be enough to get more healthy.2

Hi there! If we are going by technicality then yes, you are "overweight". The ideal weight for a female that is 5'7" and 18-24 is around 155 lbs. However, this does not take in muscle mass (remember muscle weighs more than fat), bone structure, small, medium, or large frame, breast size (which can add several lbs if you are busty), etc. If you feel healthy and you do not struggle to fit in clothes or do things that you enjoy that may require exercise then I would say you are fine! If you feel that you struggle with doing things that require exercise or you feel your weight is holding you back then perhaps you will need to lose some weight. However, the need to lose weight depends entirely on you, and you should never feel the need to lose weight simply because of what the scale says. That number can be incredibly deceptive, in reality, the only time you should choose to lose weight is when YOU feel as though your weight is making your life difficult or is holding you back. Being HEALTHY is more important than being skinny!1
