The great thing about love is that it doesn't discriminate by age, or race, or gender or religion. We all have a responsibility and (hopefully!) a desire to love, care for, and serve our husband / wife. It is not only the religious who have these morals and responsibilities, but the non religious (like myself) as well. I know that my future wife will be the most important person in the world in my eyes. And we should all feel that way.
As a male atheist, I say let women do whatever they want. She has every right to her body and fuck those who say that they should be subservient.
Even though I never had a girlfriend in my entire life, I still choose to be honorable and don't want to force women to do anything.
The OP is talking about marriage, which is a biblically rooted concept and completely different than being single. Marriage, in the biblical sense, is a covenant between a man, a woman made before God for the purpose of becoming one flesh in every aspect of life, becoming one single body reflecting the glorious image of God all across the universe.
To say that a husband and a wife should have a right to not submit to the other is like saying your heart should be able to not submit to your brain whenever it wants (or vice versa). The problem about that is if your heart refuses to submit to your brain, the whole body dies. That's why it's so important for a husband and a wife to serve and submit to one another; otherwise, the relationship ultimately dies and becomes pointless and chaotic.

Yea , this ist true. You treat your wife well and you will have a loyal woman. i heard a pastor once say that if your wife isn't having sex with you its because you aren't doing what you need to be doing as a husband.

The whole implied contract of the original gender roles was that men do get the perks of making decisions and getting their ass kissed by their wives from time to time, but for this he had to put his life and health and comfort on the line every day to support and protect the family.
Serve their wives, no, love and lead their wives not quite the same as serve.
But yes, the wife is supposed to be treated better then the man treats himself. But who cares about the bible, nobody is even following it anyway in our day, the bible also say no sex priori to marriage, no lying or stealing etc..

That's kind of the point of being a Christian, lol.
Then almost no Christians exists, 99% of all who claims to be Christians are not following the bible in the most basic manner.
People are lying all the time, stealing is software and movies over the internet, and sex out of wedlock is almost expected except by the most persisting religious people.
Most Christians do NOT even believe nor know the scriptures.

The problem is before the bible people weremt living like " good human beings". all of our western morals came from the bible.

It was necessary before, true. Now, it is useful to help guide people, and do wondrous things for them. However, I refuse to let my boyfriend 'serve' me just because the bible demands that he does. If my boyfriend 'serves' me, I will have it be a decision from his own heart, nothing else. If a spouse does something because they were told to by some other force, and for no other reason, they are insincere, and I don't want a hollow, brainless actor.

He isn't saying him being your bitch but paying attention ro your needs, if a woman needs are meet she will pay attention to your needs. Do we not in our society tell women to be what men want and always have sex with them but we dont tell men to be what women want always pay attention to her needs of emotional and spiritual connection. What? I hope for equal efforts from either sides in relationships at all times, no bitches. And unfortunately, yes, our society does tell us to do that, but slowly, it's changing and women are becoming more liberated. If a man isn't paying attention to a woman's needs, he sounds like an asshole, and she should leave him. If a woman isn't paying attention to the man's needs, he should leave her too. It's common dating knowledge. People break up for this reason all the time.
My argument is that although the bible or any other teaching is important, the bible should not be our only guide in these areas. Being a decent person should be obvious common sense, because if you can't be a decent being, you will have no partners, and no friends. We see it every day too much for it to be needed in a book.
Thats my point what is a decent human being. If you dont beleive in anything than its just a social construct to wha fits the now but could change. Yea, you do have the internal knowledge of whats good and bad and a conscious. god put it their thats in the bible. Fact is we live in a society where everything is about "me" and what can you do for me. Peopel get kn a relationship and think " me" not we and when you dont meet my needs im going to find someone who does. Its not about him catering to you amd your still not underatanding that. is about the both of you meeting eachother needs , but when one doesn't meet the other then it all starts to collapse their is resentment.

No, I actually very much understand that the effort to meet each other's needs must be equal. I don't remember saying anything that implied otherwise.
Being a decent human being is not so hard. If one desires to be a decent human being, one will learn how to be one from wisdom, guidance (yes, bible/other teachings), and experience. If one is not interested in being a good person, they will not be a good person, bible or no bible, and it usually takes a miracle to change a selfish person.
A good person is someone who spreads as much happiness wherever they go, and a smart person is someone who knows when to leave a toxic person for the sake of their own happiness. I don't think these will change to be honest. Do you really think it's just a fashion trend, and one day, good person will = someone who spreads unhappiness throughout someone else's day? Spreading happiness is the single trait of 'good person' that's stayed constant throughout our years of history.
Right but your definition of a good person may not be the same for someone else, you get what im saying? Its a construct. Anyway, like i said god already put that moral aspect in all of us so we are expected to be kind to eachother no matter our beleifs after all we have freedom of will
The bible doesn't ask use to serve our spouses brainlessly, but to serve with equality, respectfulness, and honor. We aren't asked to be puppets, but to love your spouse and to think of them when making decisions that will affect both parties.
Wonder what bible you are reading exactly, the one i read as a kid said no such thing. the highest it went up to was mutual respect.
I think partners should take care of their partner. If they don't you have some asymmetrical relationship that sucks. Might as well date a kid in this situation...

The wife and husband shouldn't serve each other because they're forced to or told to, but rather do it for their partner out of love. They serve each other because they want to.
When you marry someone, and you do it out of love... You have some responsibilities to your spouse irrespective of gender. That's how you make relationships last.
We need less arguing over who is supposed to get served and more about how we can serve.
