Yes, there is a huge difference and this difference is called a marriage certificate.
If I live together with a person without being married and this relation is severed for a reason or another, all I have to do is pack my suitcase, surrender the house key, remove my name from the doorbell and leave. It is a matter of 30 minutes at best and everything is over and out.
If I have this little paper from the state that says that you are in financial trouble if you split from your husband, then yes, it makes a huge difference. Marriage is an antique social tradition that has no more reason to be in the 21st. century.
I think if you have any hesitation about getting married, don't do it. YOu must know that you definitely want to be married before you sign the certificate. If you're hesitant, it means there's something holding you back
I really can see it both ways , I have never been one to be set on getting married. When you know you’ve met the person you want to spend the rest of your life doing then I have thought it’s just then a vocal promise and a big costly celebration but when some of that is Important to your love then that’s what would make the difference :)
Hell yeah. Marriage, 70% of women initiate divorce, guess who wins? Loving together, make sure there is no common law. Or same can happen. Read “Men On Strike” by Dr Helen Smith. Answer your question from our perspective in great detail and written by a woman.
In reality.. even most of the married people are living together... So there won't be much difference. Having said that when we are just married there is some special bonding for 2-3 years.. that starts fading eventually. And may be it returns when you cross age of 70s... yet to be there
If you're a terrible person who's marrying just for the money then there is a difference, but for those of us who want real love marriage is just a piece of paper.

It made no difference in our relationship but the way family and people treated us made a huge impact. They took us more seriously.

Yea because when living together, you have no actual ties outside of bills. When married, you can't just leave at anytime

the difference is big. Not married means the woman has no legal power over my head. I would still keep my place instead of moving with her because false accusations of rape and domestic abuse are a thing today.
It's a huge difference, but people can't understand thus as long as they aren't mature enough for marriage (or any other kind of civil-social-spiritual union, be it a Wiccan pagan union or a BDSM collar ceremony, I don't care).
Marriage is not just a ritual or ceremony in my culture. It's a thread that binds not just two individuals but also two families. So yeah, it's a big difference to me between marriage and just living together.
