For metal, I'm lumping in steel, aluminum, and whatever other metals they use on their magazines vs any plastic mags, not necessarily strictly a USGI vs Pmag matchup, which do you prefer?
Honestly it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference to me but I can see pros and cons of each. All my pistol mags are metal because that’s all they come in, and at the moment I am limited to the bullshit 10 round mags for my AR-15 which the only ones I have are all plastic. I would think the metal ones would be more durable but it’s not like I’m running around and dropping them on the ground at my little indoor range.
Can you please start putting these questions in the Shopping and Gifts topic? Posts about the quality of different products and whether you should buy them don’t belong under Society and Politics.
Yes, but it's not true all across the board, most aluminum mags weigh a bit less but when the springs rust, they create tension on the metal magazines, making them more prone to malfunctions while that problem isn't present in plastic magazines as the tension is very little and plastic doesn't rust.

I dislike plastic on guns in any shape after a P99 burst in my hands while shooting.
I guess it all boils down to what you're looking to use it for. I would think that having a gun that doesn't automatically discharge a spent cartridge would have benefits in certain situations.
