It depends on the product. With any electricals and equipment where the quality is what you're after I choose from a selection of good quality brands that I know will deliver the quality I am looking for. (Doesn't have to be the most expensive). With clothing/shoes some brands can stick out for better comfort, design or better for their intended use. That's the only time I choose specific brands. I always look into the product and do research into all different brands and offbrand products.
Not as important as quality. In don't care for the whole brand loyalty bullshit because that leaves you open to being taken advantage of by that brand. Anything I spend money on over $100 I do my research on to make sure it fits my needs without charging me for extra features I don't need. That's why my phone only cost $250 and I only pay $15 a month for it. There are some brands I trust more than others, and there are some I just refuse to spend money on. Like I will go with a Ridgid over Ryboi every single time. And I will never spend money on a highpoint.
It so depends. Usually I don't consider it unless they are really top end or bad experiences with their competitors such as Asus motherboards are the only ones I use now after two bad motherboards in a row from MSI. Is it probably ridiculous yes. Does that reason satisfy my brain to try msi or evga or ever asrock no.
Usually not very important unless the brand guarantees lasting durability or quality. But just to have an item under that brand because it's popular or any other superficial reasons isn't what I'd go for.
