If your stimulus came before the rest of your family, would you split yours with them?

Maybe if they were really struggling. Like if they’re about to lose their home or get the lights cut out and lose all their groceries in the fridge or something, while I didn’t really need it immediately. But if it’s just to go cop some sneakers or something, forget that, haha. Sounds like they have a poor track record for repayment, so I wouldn’t lend them anything unless they were really and truly in a desperate situation, in which case, that’s your fam and you should look out for them, as long as you think you’d be given the same respect in the opposite situation. I was always taught the Polonious (from Shakespeare’s Hamlet) adage: “Neither a borrower nor a lender be.”
For me, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm not sure how my bank account is supposed to look, because I have government benefits, I'm in a mad rush to get my bank account under 2,000 dollars. Currently, it's a little crazy to try to balance it. But I've heard that the stimulus does not count towards that amount but I'm probably still going to use it to pay off my school. my mom is still waiting for hers and my heart goes out to her but I've got to be careful to make sure I'm being safe on my end 😅
The key for me was when you said “they never pay you back”! There is almost nothing worse that the realization that someone you love has screwed you over financially! I was always never loan money to family, if you can afford to and want to, the just give it as a gift and if you get it back… bonus! But if they do not pay you back, then it’s no big deal because you gave it as a gift in the first place. Nobody in your family is entitled to your money, if they HAD paid you back in the past then it would be different, but they did not, so don’t give ‘em a penny! “A fool and his money are easily parted” - ancient saying
I've never given any of my stimulus money to any of my family members. My mom has already applied for several loans/grants and she has been able to get the family a good amount of money. Like one time she was about to get a $500 gift card for Vons, another time we got a preloaded debit card for $1200. My parents aren't eligible for stimulus so they've had to scour the internet to look for some extra cash

Nope not a penny. Fuck em. First off it’s my money, and secondly, they couldn’t be bothered to help me when I needed it so they get nothing from me.
Mine helped me as a teen but they expect money back. Yet they dont pay back for stuff now that we’re all adults
I'm not against letting them borrow a 50 if they're broke but otherwise they have jobs.
My taxes got used faster than I got them so I’m not sharing my stimulus. I’m getting a tv and a new bed
Lol my tax refund got ruined by a damn untaxed job promotion lumpsum that they dropped last minute in December 🤦♀️
I pretty much used mine to spend on my cat's medical bill.
No lol. The stimulus is mine they need to just wait for theirs
Nope. I've loaned them enough money and never had it returned and they never said thank you.
How I treat other family members depends on their track record and current circumstances.
My money is mine. If someone needs to borrow money, I'll consider it, but they'll pay me back.
Tbh a lot of us dont need it, but free money is free money. It just gets added to the savings
Nah my parents are rich. My other siblings are doing better than me too monetarily wise
Even if mine were rich, they feel entitled to anything i get since they raised me
Heck no I give my family enough finical support already.
Mine have money but ask for more because they feel i owe them since they raised me
If I know I'm not getting no payback than I can't make that move, just cause I get my money first don't mean I give shit away. If that known for not paying back then I expect they would have had that same energy if situations was reversed.
If my family needed it, yeah, I'd help them out. But if they weren't doing anything to help themselves in the first place, no way.
I would damn sure make them pay me back!
They dont ever pay me back. Plus they just want it to shop with. My grandma
Literally said “i just want sumn to sit in my pocket.” Girl bye
Hell no. They should have managed their money better. That's their problem, not mine.
tell them you will share yours when they get theirs and share it with you...
I think your family needs to SUCK IT UP and be patient.
Family that you
choose and enjoy? Of course 💕
I wouldn’t have even told them period
Made too much money I'm not getting one
If they needed it, sure.
