The BIG, GIGANTIC issue with a transgender bathroom... is burden of proof.
How is someone supposed to "prove" they are transgender if a sexual crime happens in that bathroom?
If a sexual crime occurs, it occurs. There would be no need to prove anything except that it happened to a jury so the person can hopefully be put away in jail.
I'm very sorry but i think it could help in the next years but everybody can accept you and your gender but nobody canget used to it easily. It is still weird to someone who has heard of it but never seen it before.
I, for an example, would get shocked if i see someone peeing with an... i don't know what or a women who is pulling a penis out to pee next to me.
That's all an example.
My opinion is that they should get an own toiletroom.
Besides that my opinion about this whole gender mystery is that people who having a new gender act like people are used to it as soon as the law or the media accept it. For them, have a look at homosexuality and see how people are still not used to it or in worser case against it. So actually i think they should be careful because "this gender mystery is new in this world" and people should get used to it first.
Its a bathroom and its ridiculous to expect every establishment to spend the money to put in a third bathroom, just as its absurd to claim some kind of sexual deviation will occur by having a transgender person use the bathroom of thier choice. By that reasoning gay and lesbian only bathrooms should exist as well, because you know how often bathroom rape/molestation occurs. Its a stupid issue no one (should) care its a bathroom.
If you have two X chromosomes, use the womens room. If you have an X and a Y chromosome, use the men's room. The rest is just cosmetics, you are what your DNA says you are.
Transgender is a mental illness, and is a disability. Those who suffer from it need counciling not affirmation. When we start letting people live their trans-gender/abled/whatever delusions we lose our ability to call it under threat of being called transphobic or whatever the new dumbass word for this shit is.
Lest we forget post-ops have a 40% suicide rate - makes sense.

Being transgender is NOT a choice and considering it a choice is incredibly condescending. Do you REALLY think gay and transgender people want/choose to be the way they are? "Oh yeah cool, I love getting called a faggot or being bullied at school for wearing girls' clothes! Great choice I made! Hurray!" Most gay and especially trans people wish they weren't the way they are because they are being shat on every day.
And seriously, if you think transgender people might be gay, you don't understand anything about sexual identity and sexual orientation because the two are NOT the same. One is how you see yourself and the other is what kind of people you prefer to have sex with. Just because a girl feels unhappy in her body doesn't mean she's into boobs and pussy. These two are absolutely not related. In fact, there are transgender people who are straight and there are transgender people who are gay.

It's not necessary to have a own bathroom for them. If the transgender person pass as the gender they identify themselves as, they can use the bathroom that match their gender identity in my opinion. If they doesn't pass and wants to avoid people staring at them, using a gender neutral bathroom is a option.
Just use whatever you identify as. Who the fuck cares lol this is the type of bs that is ruining people. Why would we need a separate bathroom for a small minority? Go with whatever genitalia you have, and if anyone has an issue with it, tell them to fuck off

Why don't people use the bathrooms that they identify with? People keep bitching about potential assault or people taking advantage but what is stopping someone of any gender of any bathroom today? It isn't like there's a gender scanner or a DNA test before entry. People are being fucking ridiculous.

There should be men's restrooms, women's restrooms, and gender neutral restrooms. Men can go to men's and gender neutral restrooms.
Women can go to women's and gender neutral restrooms.
People go to the bathroom they identify with.
When people start transitioning, they get weird looks if their isn't a gender neutral bathroom. It's not ideal, and the solution is simple.
Okay. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but why can't trans people just use whatever restroom assigned to the gender they're passing as? Like if you look like a guy go to the guys restroom and if you're passing as a girl go to the girl's restroom. I don't get why this is an issue.
Not every transgender person "passes" as the gender they identify as, though. A lot of transgender people are still in their "transformation" stage and might not have had any surgeries yet. Also there's the issue of people simply being offended by transgender people, so naturally transgender people are kinda afraid of using public bathrooms in the first place.

A lot of transgender people don't even look androgynous. And you can't just assume that nobody will make a fuss over it.
@lumos Huh. interesting. I only know one trans person IRL and he was always pretty androgynous even before he switched so I guess I just assumed it would be the same for everyone else.
Yeah, it's not. Every transgender person's story and situation is different, and not all of them live in very liberal or otherwise open-minded places, which is why they might be afraid to use the public bathrooms. They don't want to attract that sort of negative attention. And the fact that it's even a possibility that conflict will arise is enough for them to try to avoid public bathrooms entirely.
Why does it really even matter? Having the restroom option there and available won't change or hurt anything, it's just an option. They can still choose to ignore it and go to whichever bathroom they want to go to.
I don't really care which bathroom they use honestly, I think they should just all have stalls and at that point it wouldn't make much of a difference to me.
I would have no problem with their existence - My only grievance would be designating them transgender bathrooms - I would call them unisex bathrooms and I would use them to stop people saying everyone that uses them is transgender - Maybe in time society might feel more comfortable with allowing people to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with rather than what they were born as.
im not sure there r enough transgendered folks to justify the expenses and universality, but also having it separate just sounds like its a blow at them. once transition has begun, i think they should just start going to the restroom of the gender they are becoming/feel set in. if they at least are starting to look like the gender, it will likely not create disturbance to other bathroom goers who aren't gonna question it
Not if they're going to be spending our tax money to build it. I don't care if a transgender comes into the girls bathroom, but don't "check me out" or try to flirt with me. I don't see why anyone should have a problem with this in the first place. If you're that worried just use the single family washroom.

@Queen_KZ there are a lot more actual transgender/transsexual people who do belong there. However, people who are perverts and disgusting that want to sexuality assault and rape women aren't going to be stopped by a women's room. They obviously already don't care about breaking laws.
@ForeverYours39 no, it's not going to stop them I think it just makes it easier for them. If you notice a guy going into the girls bathroom it stands out but if it becomes the norm for guys to be there because they're transgender some guys (the ones that arent) may take advantage of this because they no longer stand out for being there. You'll dismiss their presence as people outside the restroom would. Everyone would pay less attention.

@ForeverYours39 And it's great that you have that faith, seeing as most women have flippant attitudes towards men, but you still have to be realistic. Rapes would also include transgender women (women wanting to turn male) trying to assault other women too. Not just men.
They should NOT get special privileges just because they decided they wanted to changer sex or gender or whatever. Like that's on them their problem this is fucking ridiculous. Are these Transgenders going to pay for a third bathroom? Probably not. As a women I should not be going into a bathroom with a man. I should feel safe.
Real transgender people do not choose to identify as man, woman, or otherwise. It's how their brain works. You didn't choose to identify as a woman just like you didn't choose to identify as whatever your sexuality is. If a MTF person wants to shit in the same bathroom that you do, it's not gonna hurt you. And if they fucking do you can press charges on them just like any other person.

Honestly I'd rather they got psychological treatment for their mental condition.
Failing that I feel they should be in the bathroom of their current outwards-physical sex.
That is to say that pre-op they're still their birth sex and after, even if never an actual man or woman, they should be in the one where their body now makes the most sense outwards.
What mental condition? The only mental condition related to being transgender is the dysphoria associated with having the "wrong" body, which not all trans people even experience. And even then, the current accepted treatment is hormone replacement therapy and gender reassignment surgery.
@cipher42 It is a common fact that near all transgender people suffer from a personality crisis and disorder. The vast majority of them have furthermore been the victims of extensive bullying.
They might truly feel as if they want to be the other gender, but that does not change it. I have a friend who truly believes that he is a husky. And he really wishes it was true.

Firstly, cite your sources. If said personality crisis/disorder invalidates their identity, why are most major psychological associated not of that opinion?
Secondly, you seem to fundamentally misunderstand what gender even means. Gender is not a biological fact, it is a social construct. Sex and gender are not the same thing, and if you don't even understand that then you clearly can't on this subject with any authority whatsoever.

So you can take your patronizing domineering techniques somewhere else - Especially if you do not plan to use them correctly.
As for sources, feel free to research it yourself. Ask any teenage psychologist or anyone specialized in the field. Convincing you is very low on my to-do list.

Yeah, I have researched it. You need to cite your sources. If it's so easy to find information on, surely you can't be lazy enough to refuse to provide said info. Gender is a social construct.
In the ancient times they didn't even consider male and female to be different sexes. Granted it was because they didn't know anything about anatomy. However, there ideas about gender were so different. The thought of a binary system didn't even cross their minds. You were either feminine or masculine or somewhere in the spectrum of gender. The binary system didn't come along until much, much later.
