Just tell them something like "What's the matter-you don't know how to enjoy life unless you're shitfaced?" or something to that effect. They're the losers, not you. I've never been a big drinker. Not much at all most of my life, though I did have a job as a wine consultant a couple of times (I know my stuff and have a knack for selling it). But I've had too many alcoholics in my life and I've pretty much come to hate them, so you're in good company.
I agree with this take. My friends are constantly wanting me to use things like MDMA, crack, heroine or even marijuana. I have tried things like this in the past and ended up psychotic. I can sympathize with that feeling of being the party pooper in the room.
I enjoy alcohol. A lot. But I also like to party and go to clubs and all that BS but I take no judgement in anyone that doesn't drink or want to drink. To each their own and I have never looked down on anyone that chooses not to do it.
I can definitely understand the points you make here, though I do like a drink. The two I can relate to most are once about taste and losing control. I like having some drinks, but don't like being drunk. I also refuse to drink anything I dislike the taste of. I hate hearing "but it'll get you drunk!" My response is "I don't care, it tastes awful!"
I'm probably one of the few who has said those things to people and had them said to me. I'm a recovering alcoholic and have said pretty much all of those to someone at some point. Now I'm on the receiving end of those remarks. It's hard for some people to grasp a life without alcohol. It was for me once. Keep your chin up, you aren't missing anything.

No I know I'm not missing anything, people who drink have already proven that to me over and over. :)
I get number six most often, which is funny because my thyroid disease dictates that I cannot drink alcohol. Like, it's literally not an achievement whatsoever, but people act like I'm freakin' Mother Teresa sometimes.
My step father let me drink a half filled shot glass when I was about eight or nine and... yeah, you're not missing anything, it smells terrible and tastes worse.
I sometimes explain why I drink to people who have such unnuanced views of it. But convince them to do the same? Nope. Done that it in the past and it only leads to frustration on both sides.
I never hear those things. Probably because I either ignore them or people respect me.

People respect me too. Honestly 9 times out of 10, people are like "oh ok that's cool" or simply curious (not condescending). Even when I was a teen and it was more "cool" and "edgy" to drink, people didn't really care that much. It's just those few instances when people have started questioning/interrogating/mocking me that have really annoyed the hell out of me lol.
Yeah, but I think also I don't hang around a lot of drinkers. I hang around more pot heads than anything, and I don't smoke either so there's the awkwardness of that sometimes. Though sometimes you can't help but get a light high anyway even if you haven't taken a hit.
Oh. I really don't hang anyone that drinks a lot really. I mean if I do I don't hang around when they are drinking. Smoking? Yeah. But not usually drinking. Because that's usually something people do late at night. I'm at home late at night.
Oh hell no lol. He was just a classmate. I think he was into me at some point, because he would initiate these random conversations on facebook every now and then and try to be flirty. He was never really my friend though because I didn't like him very much. He was pretty fake. Like he never wanted to break any norms and bashed those who do (like me). He even gave me shit once for not having a driver's license. He probably just felt insecure and wanted everyone else to conform the way he did.
No I know, it was a couple of years ago and we don't talk anymore (not that we ever really did "talk" but yeah). His opinion doesn't mean anything, it's just annoying that he was so dumb.
"dont you like partying"? fuck no. i hate it. "you must be fun at parties" i hope i'm not.
so society tells you in a few words: " you are not a societal fucktard that wastes its health, money and time like us?" fuck no i'm not. i usually answer to them im an athlete.

Always had the worry that I'll become too dependent on alcohol, so I've descided to abstain except for special ocassions

I don't drink cause i simply don't like the taste but my grandparent don't understand and keep forcing to drink when we have lunch together
That's a shame. :/
Yes, they don't understand I really hate the taste. They always try to convince me to drink. When really, what's the problem to not drink?

If you don't drink, that's cool.

Haha, great Take!

Haha, heard most of these comments last weekend. "Ohhhh, can we get you drunk for the first time? I want to see how you act." Okay, cool, I don't. :)

Lol that’s great! Keep walking path you choose! Don’t let anyone else tell you other!
It’s cheaper to drink at home and at your own choice. Don’t need to drink at parties!
Last who gives a duck what other people say. Don’t give into peer pressure.
I rarely hear any of these things, because I'm enough of a ditzface blabbermouth that everyone thinks I'm drunk anyway! #partysober #therealcoolkids
Srsly tho
I've heard pretty much all of them except the last one. Haters gonna hate.
It's about time someone wrote about this, I drink at all.
I never hear those things. Probably because I either ignore them or people respect me.

Like 3 or 4 things on this list were said by one guy only lmao.

Is that guy a friend or something?

Ah. Well people like that shouldn't matter to you anyway. His opinion should mean less than 2 cents to you.
I understand your frustration much better.
No I know, it was a couple of years ago and we don't talk anymore (not that we ever really did "talk" but yeah). His opinion doesn't mean anything, it's just annoying that he was so dumb.
I don't drink alcohol and never will, I can relate so hard to this.
Great take - Number 9 for some people including me I wish I had your sense and didn't drink because I hate me drinking.
One I often heard: "People who don't drink are sociopaths." :-P
I've known managers saying "I don't want a guy who doesn't drink"
So he assumes all non drinkers are How Hunt? That's incredibly ignorant.
*Joe Hunt. Blasted Autocorrect.
