Sexuality should be taught in schools at the same time that sex ed is taught. If year fours and up are ready to to taught about safe sex then why shouldn't they be taught about same sex relationships?
Sexuality is not going to be taught in schools for the same reason religion is not taught in schools and prayer was taken out. Everyone has right to their beliefs and individuality. You can't push your beliefs and who you are on others and vice versa. We can accept people for who they are without being forced to have that in our lives. Instead, children should be taught love, tolerance, acceptance, non-judgement, etc. This should be taught by parents, relatives, friends, school, etc. It truly does take a village to raise a child. They are influenced by more than just parents.
@crystalt70 I see what you are saying. But teaching about different sexualities is not forcing anything down someone's throat. It should be apart of sex ed.
Unfortunately, it is to those who don't want their children taught that. But, that's their right. It could be seen as showing children that it is encouraged since it happens in society, social media and now in schools. I actually had an issue with my children being taught sex ed in school. I think that is something that should be taught at home. Let the parents explain it to their kids. My daughter didn't even want to take it. She was embarrassed to be sitting in a classroom with 30 other kids and seeing a penis/vagina on a screen. Kids in 7th grade are just not mature. It brought up too many jokes and other kids making lude comments to each other. It made her feel uncomfortable. My son is in sex ed right now. He came home with a paper asking permission for him to take sex ed. As much as I wanted to say no (because he is VERY immature), he said he wanted to take it, so I allowed it. That was HIS choice and I supported it. I think that if sex ed is going to be taught, then it
should be taught in high school. This is where kids are slightly more mature, are more likely to be practicing sex and they may remember more. I couldn't tell you anything that was taught to me in sex ed. Partly because I wasn't interested, I was embarrassed and I wasn't ready. I don't remember much about middle school at all, though.
Dude a lot of kids start doing sexual things in 5th- Middle school. They should know. But they are given the choice not see it or not so it shouldn't be a problem. @cystalt70
Wait, religion isn't taught in schools? Then why did I have to sit through three hours a week minimum learning about Jesus and God in primary school? I went to a public school. I'm pretty sure I was forced into learning about religion and forced to respect and believe it.
When we had sex ed. a letter was sent home the week before with a checklist. Our parents would tick what they were happy for us to learn, and send the list back. If they didn't want us to learn something being taught, we'd be taken out of the room for that part of the lesson. Just add sexuality to that list and people should be good.
And it should still be taught in primary school. An old friend of mine went and got pregnant in year seven, and if I remember correctly, she'd been the one who'd missed sex ed in year six. She makes a pretty good mum now for her age, but it could have easily been avoided if she had have participated in sex ed. Well, I like to think it could have anyway.
It would definitely aid places like my old town where diversity is almost non existent. Only a few kids who've lived there their entire lives have ever encountered a black person more than once and outside of maccas (where most passer throughs stop by). So anyone dark skinned at the schools is either bullied horrendously, steered clear of through fear caused by misunderstanding, or raised above everyone's head and revered as a god of sorts. This works for gays, except for the fact that people are more accepting of black people now, and hating on gays. I haven't told anyone but my family and one friend from my old town that I'm gay because I know the people there won't understand, and will only hate me more than they already do. (no I have no idea why they hate me already)
Religion is only taught in certain schools. The only time I was taught religion was when I went to a Catholic high school. As far as sex ed being taught in middle school being able to prevent teen pregnancies, not true. We were taught sex ed in 7th grade. The same year, one of my friends and two other girls that I knew by acquaintance were all pregnant. I can't even begin to tell you how many girls become pregnant in high school, especially in today's society. Sex ed won't stop that. It is a joke to kids. You really think they care about what some "old" teacher says? All you have to do is turn on the radio and you hear about sex, drugs, money, etc. It's on the internet and tv as well. It won't slow/stop until society shows more standards. Sex, drugs, etc shouldn't be so readily available and in kids faces.

A lot of parents even say they knew their children were gay when they were very young, like age 5. I'm pretty sure most 5 year olds don't understand the concept of being gay so I doubt they chose to be it. Plus other species can be gay too. I think people who are against it are just ignorant, they just spew out all of these "facts" about how gay isn't right, when they don't even know anyone who is gay.
Scientists theorize that the purpose of the same-gender interactions is to develop a familiarity with the mating techniques before using them to court the appropriate female giraffe.
So they aren't really gay, it's more of a practice run sort a thing.
Also, lemmings have been known to randomly run off of a cliff for what seems to be no apparent reason. So should we just randomly run of cliffs.
Rats have been gay. Going after males instead of females. I read an article about a study that was done and when they hooked up brain wave scanners via electrodes onto the rats, the part of the brain that represents sexual chemistry lit up when presented with a rat of the same sex. Also, my cat is gay lol so... won't go anywhere near my females, attacks them in fact, but just loves my male cats and is constantly humping them, even though he is fixed. He was like that since he was a kitten. So your point is invalid. Also, a theory is just that. A theory. The fact is that there is more evidence pointing to being born gay, even among other species, then there is to using it as "mating techniques". Call it inherited imperfection call it sin, the facts still remain...

Those who have been washed clean are forgiven of their sins. But how will they be washed clean? By coming to know God. How? By example an my a loving spirit, certainly not the one you have shown...
I would prefer not to argue with someone who pretends to know the bible but knows nothing about its true meaning nor about why it was actually written. Though I admire your passion, I pity your convictions. Might I suggest some reading? The book of Mathew but specifically chapter 7. The entire 1st and 2nd Corinthians, specifically 1 Corinthians 13, book of Proverbs, Galations 5, Genisis-Deuteronomy. If you truly care about the Bible, it's meaning, and being a better person you will take my advice. You are the only one to use foul language my friend, clearly you are being hypocritical... also, I'm not going to respond anymore to your spam, you clearly do not have an accurate understanding of the scriptures and prefer to either use them for your argument, use them out of context, or focus on only one point while overlooking the rest. Besides I'm not going to throw my "pearls before swine" any more with regards to you. That's in the book of Mathew by the way :-)
Okay, this take is just disgusting. Men and women were made for each other physically. A woman and a woman just don't work (same thing with men). Only a man and a woman can have kids together. We were all created that way. Those that think otherwise should go to a mental doctor.
Sometimes I wonder if people will stop discriminating gay people. There are a lot of terrible things happening and people are worried about someone's sexual orientation? Really? This makes no sense to me. I imagined that being lesbian and being on a catholic college must have been horrible.
The fact that you're being true to yourself is great. Some people can't be. And it takes a lot of courage and strength to be open with other people about your sexuality.
I think good on you for coming out and admitting your lesbian. There is nothing wrong with any man being gay or any woman being lesbian. Gay and Lesbian marriage is also legal in New Zealand and as a result of this we have a lot of gay and lesbian Australian residents making the trip to New Zealand to get married.
A++++++ And I just realized that although I'm straight, my avatar is essentially an equal rights advocacy banner :D I hope my state will eventually open it's mind and pass some equal rights laws, especially legalize marriages!!!
i would totally agree with you. instead it does hurt people, www.theblaze.com/.../ here is a lesbian couple suing a bakery for not serving them, and trying to ruin their life because they are christian. this isn't the only story but there it is. these people have become power freaks and if you say anythign against them they will sue you. thats what im against.
If they refused to serve black people, there would be an outrage. But because it's a gay couple, people pretend like this is about the freedom of the business. It isn't. You can't refuse service to people because they're gay, just like you can't refuse service to people because they're black, female or hispanic. It's not within a company's rights to discriminate against people.
It's okay to be gay because it doesn't hurt anyone else. People just don't like the idea that there are things in this world that they can't understand, and when they can't understand something, they get scared and become defensive, expecting it to be abolished.
In truth, being gay doesn't affect anybody that doesn't exist in that relationship. People just over estimate their importance and try to over involve themselves in the endeavors of others.
Logic would tell you that Bisexual people would be liked by either side, because a bisexual man is up for gay men (or the homosexual side of another bi man) AND is up for straight women (or the heterosexual side of a bi woman), and likewise a bi woman would be accepted by either side. The first mistake you made, however, is to use logic when you talk about people. We don't care if you are a guy or a girl. We'll love you and have sex with you regardless. Just love us back!
But the reason I mentioned the stigma about bi people, is because I see so many people commenting on how bi people are selfish, they're fence sitters, they 'don't exist'. I've seen so many people ask if their opinion even counts because they're bi. I don't believe being bi makes you any different to anyone else, but a lot of people, both queer and straight, seem to think it does.
I know. It's hard for people to accept that you can like more than gender. The whole fence sitter thing is infinitely annoying. It's like when some people like vanilla ice cream and some like chocolate, and we are the people who like both. The selfish thing I can kinda understand, because I think people confuse bisexuality with polyamory, but even if I was poly (I'm not, I am mono), it's not selfishness, it's about being open about your desires with the people you are dating. I just wish people would realize that it's about what makes you happy, not what fits a norm. A man's body is just as attractive as a woman's body (albeit for varying reasons) to me. When I am dating a man, and I see a woman, I don't have this imaginary woman quota I need filled or vice versa. I am just happy to be in a relationship with someone I hopefully love.
I'm not bi myself (Or.. I don't identify as such, others like to say I am) but I do get exactly what you're saying.
It's kind of like (but not) asking a lesbian who the man is in their relationship. It's irrelevant.
I've been asked if I was with a girl would I crave for a man. Short answer - no. I wouldn't. I would be in a relationship with that person for her, not her bits. (or him, but I lean more to girls than guys)
a lot of people like to call gays bisexual. because they think you can turn straight from bi. im bi and my dad is still clinging to the hope that ill marry a woman and be straight. which ill never be straight but you get the point.
I feel your pain on that. People just can't understand the ambiguity of our preference. Just because I am with a woman doesn't make me straight, it just means that I settled on dating a woman. Again, the ice cream choice. Just because I got vanilla doesn't mean I don't like chocolate, it just means that I got vanilla.
Your the first person I've seen use the color analogy right. I'm all for letting everyone (i don't care who they love) have equal rights.
But I fucking hate when people compare slavery to gay marriage rights. You can't help you you are anymore than anyone can help their skin color. But you basic human rights weren't taken from you for hundreds of years.
Again, thank you for using politically correct analogies.
A lot of you are rude af. Who cares if you're gay? It's not hurting you or influencing how your life goes, so you're wasting time hating someone's sexuality. It's not hard to accept that people are just different. Live and let live.
*If people can choose their sexual orientation, why would anyone ever choose to be hated, discriminated against, beat, etc? Why would they choose to endure pain and suffering from idiots and close minded people when they could avoid that?

Really did not even read the take, just realized that Kirk Cameron was being attacked for a role in a MOVIE that he played... The meme would have been much more accurate and politically correct if it was just his character's name. Indicating that your punch line fell flat my friend.
@Take Owner the fact that you used a picture of a evangelical christian, in this... kirk cameron was a former secular actor and now he's christian, and he's married aswell...
@Take owner, Just don't use shit like that again, unless you want to offend religious and christian peoples. Kirk cameron is straight and happily married,
I believe the meme she used can imply *anyone* who is opposed to gay relationships that hypocritically use gay or lesbian porn for their own pleasure. This doesn't just mean Kirk Cameron's image on a meme, although who's to say what he might have done behind a closed door in the privacy of his own bedroom. You never know. :) It's the message of the meme, that's what she's trying to convey.
What bothers me (those of you who stood with thanks:) is that had this of been a pop icon, people would have actually looked into it and gotten mad, but now that i'm just saying something about someone who I admire people are trying to counter example my point of view. I dare you, post that same meme with Be or one of the Kardashians... i'd be impressed to see if you actually survive to tell me I'm right
I don't know who Be is, or how that qualified as a name, and I couldn't care less about the Kardashians. Like @Ozanne said, my intention was the message on the meme, not the person. If it were anyone I liked (or even vaguely knew about) I would have laughed and used it even sooner.
If we could leave it be now, I'd prefer not be attacked for a simple lack of care and knowledge on my part.
Great take. I don't know why people use "it's a choice" as an argument. So what if it's a choice? People should be able to choose what they're attracted to. But, I still think we are born with it.
I'm bi, and I have always been. I enjoyed reading your take.
Why can't people just accept we're all different and we'll stick with our own? You don't see tigers hanging out with wildebeests at the watering hole and apologising for treating them like prey. It's only do-gooders want us all holding hands and skipping down the road laughing. It's a big world. Find a part to live in and everybody else will do the same.
Bitch shut your mouth there is nothing wrong with being bisexual, lesbian, gay or pans, just because your a narrow minded teenager who needs to grow up and stop being so shallow, do you really think people can control WHO they like? NO so just do man kind a favour and keep your rude ass opinions too yourself
I thought this myTake was well written, included humour, and got all the points across. Where in any of this did you think she was choking wrong ideas on people? There is love between humans in all different forms, and none of them are "wrong". What's wrong is finding hate when all people want to do is co-exist together and find a love that's right for them, whether it's with someone of the opposite sex or same sex. If you don't agree it's for you, that's your business as a straight person, but to say it's choking wrong ideas to people is a little harsh. In this day and age, a little acceptance would be nice.
honestly i have never met a homosexual who is mentally sane. usually have some sort of mental issue or just something weird about them. aside from their sexual orientation
I've read all your replies and, yeah. Yeah no you just sound like an arsehole. We're not nuts, some of just have a few mental issues (anxiety/depression) thanks to the lack of acceptance.
You can't say you're for gay marriage then say as long as we don't 'force' a priest into performing the ceremony. It wouldn't be a very good ceremony with some sour puss standing there reading out lines like he's trying to raise Satan.
im not for gay marriage at all, you miss understood. i said i dont care if you get married. i dont care what you do. as long as you dont force anyone who doesn't want to be a part of your ceremony. and you homos have done that before. www.dailymail.co.uk/.../...s-fundraising-page.html see this is the problem. this will not go well for your little gay movement.
and again i won't accept you, but i dont know why you care. many people won't accept you. you're going to have to accept the fact that people won't agree with you no matter how many articles or feelings you put out.

Great take. Sexuality should be taught in schools so there are less problems and more acceptance and understanding.
Maybe one day.
Sexuality should be taught in schools
When
How are you going to teach a child that a sexuality is okay without teaching the difference between the different sexualities
How are you going to teach a child what sexuality IS
Sure, you can say stuff like, "it's ok for boys to like boys and girls to like girls" but why even get into that unless there's a problem?
Well, there is a problem.
How can you not tell that there is a problem

Okay, this take is just disgusting. Men and women were made for each other physically. A woman and a woman just don't work (same thing with men). Only a man and a woman can have kids together. We were all created that way. Those that think otherwise should go to a mental doctor.
You know what I find disgusting? The fact that you consider some people "wrong".
agreed
Why is it okay to be gay? Because it's consensual, doesn't harm anyone, and makes those who participate in it happy. What more reasons does one need?
i would totally agree with you.
instead it does hurt people, www.theblaze.com/.../
here is a lesbian couple suing a bakery for not serving them, and trying to ruin their life because they are christian.
this isn't the only story but there it is. these people have become power freaks and if you say anythign against them they will sue you. thats what im against.
Yeah, logic was not the way to go I admit.
That is exactly right.
I wasn't referring to the slavery. Just the discrimination on the whole.
I don't blame you for thinking so either.
What other way has the colour analogy been used?
Some have tried to compare how African American were enslaved once and fought for their freedom. So apperently gays are doing the same thing.
Others say "gay is the new black".
Gay marriage rights is definitely important, but it isn't 300/400 years of being treated as less than human.
And I know you weren't :)
I attacked someone...
When
And I actually have no idea which meme you're talking about or who Kirk Cameron is. So...
I attacked who and how?
One of the memes that you have on here. being that you don't know who he is I would recommend a) stop living under a rock and b) do your research.
I'm not living under a rock, I simply don't give two shits about people I'm never going to meet.
Plus I'm bad enough with names and faces for people I need to know.
Second, it's a meme. Who cares?
@Take Owner the fact that you used a picture of a evangelical christian, in this...
kirk cameron was a former secular actor and now he's christian, and he's married aswell...
So saying that is really offensive
Okay, I'm not going to bother arguing this, I'm sorry I used the stupid meme.
But just for the record, why do you even care?
@Take owner, Just don't use shit like that again, unless you want to offend religious and christian peoples.
Kirk cameron is straight and happily married,
do your research first
Oh my god, it's a meme. I wasn't attacking anyone, and I didn't make it. I found it on google.
I'm sorry it just so happened to contain a person who appears on tv every now and then.
Find a part to live in and everybody else will do the same.
it is not okay what the heck are u a homosexual yourself trying to choke your wrong ideas on people
My wrong ideas
You're only seventeen (granted I am too but still) what the hell do you know about wrong ideas
Think of it this way if you will, what would you do if you were gay, or trans-sexual
Would it still be wrong then? Or is it only because your parents have told you so that you think it's a terrible thing?
Bitch shut your mouth there is nothing wrong with being bisexual, lesbian, gay or pans, just because your a narrow minded teenager who needs to grow up and stop being so shallow, do you really think people can control WHO they like? NO so just do man kind a favour and keep your rude ass opinions too yourself
@Basketballchick4eva
you need anger management. either that or you are a troll
Hey, I bet you have some weird mental stuff going on too. Looked at any weird porn lately?
you see what i mean? all you people are mentally benign.
do you mean weird ass porn like homosexual porn? then no.
Okay, so far all I can say is. You're crazy.
It wouldn't be a very good ceremony with some sour puss standing there reading out lines like he's trying to raise Satan.
im not for gay marriage at all, you miss understood. i said i dont care if you get married. i dont care what you do.
as long as you dont force anyone who doesn't want to be a part of your ceremony. and you homos have done that before. www.dailymail.co.uk/.../...s-fundraising-page.html
see this is the problem. this will not go well for your little gay movement.
and again i won't accept you, but i dont know why you care. many people won't accept you. you're going to have to accept the fact that people won't agree with you no matter how many articles or feelings you put out.
and actually you're the crazy one, you're the homosexual.
<3 <3 <3
Mental issue... you mean like homo guys talking with high voices or some shit like that and trying to act like prissy women.
