I think it's supposed to be a bit tight so it will feel like the dog is getting hugged.
@Leimarie in general though most dogs don’t really like to actually be hugged, like most of the time they find it uncomfortable and try to struggle out of it. And even if they stay still it doesn’t necessarily mean they enjoy it.
I saw something about that in the news not too long ago. However, my dog is an anxious rescue who is one of the rare ones who will even force you to hug her. 🙂
@Leimarie that’s cute. :) My dog also likes to hug. She has shorter legs and always gets very excited when we get home. People would think she’s just jumpy but she actually wants you to bend down to her level so that she can rest her front legs on your knees, and you can give her a big hug. And whenever mom brings out any grooming tools, she’ll try to escape by jumping into the nearest person’s lap and get them to hug her so she’ll feel safe haha. But from what I understand it’s pretty rare for dogs to actually seek out hugs. Also she’s the type of dog who hates clothing. Even though she has a lot of fur, the winters here get extremely cold. She hates her sweaters and will growl (not aggressively, just to show that she’s displeased) when you put them on and take them off 😅
