I’ve been thinking about starting one this year, but I’m not sure what I would write about. If you ever have or currently do keep a journal, share some ideas. What do you like to write about? Do you document what you’ve done or hope to do each day? Or do you use it primarily for brainstorming and idea generation? Do you also use it as a weekly/monthly planner?
I wrote 3 journals so far. I thought about start a new one this year and I think I will. I have so many things to tell, my life has been changing a lot! I write about what happened during the day, my thoughts, my feelings and sometimes my wishes. I use it daily. You should go for it. It will make you feel better.
Just write whatever seems like the thing to write about that day. It doesn’t have to be the same type of thing every day. Write about your boyfriend, or a trip you’d like to take. Really anything goes.
I buy the moleskin pocket journals and just keep them in a cargo pocket. I use them for brainstorming, planning, writing down addresses, phone numbers, events that have, or will happen. They're extremely useful, if I look back and see the same idea several times, especially in several of my journals, then it is one I should devote some time to seeing through. They're also great for diagrams, electrical and of layouts, I used them a lot in my business for figuring out angles of coverage for surveillance, or possible penetration for security, so on and so forth.
What do you like to write about? Random topics (movies, books, course notes)
Do you document what you’ve done or hope to do each day? No.
Do you use it primarily for brainstorming and idea generation? Maybe? I usually connect ideas from different fields, or sometimes it's just something nice i realize.
Do you also use it as a weekly/monthly planner? No. Maybe I should?
(btw don't write with pen and paper lol. The value of taking note is when you see a vaguely familiar idea you should be able to search for it in your journal using keywords. You don't want to have to go through hundreds pages of old notes to find one relevant passage)
I write my thoughts on into a text file. With a bit of html5, CSS, JavaScript you can turn a text file into a set of notes organized into a contents tree. Mine looks like this:It's minimalistic, I dont care enough to make it pretty 😂
I used to have one and I have a couple reasons for them. My major one is taking notes relating to my faith. But one that's almost more important, is my mind dumping on a page about where my life is and where I want it to go. How I am now and how people see me and how I want to be seen in the future. My thoughts, dreams and feelings. At times I even thought of journaling down a summery of life so that in older age I could go back to reference it
It's multi-purpose. I write down the agenda for the day, keep tabs on ideas or brainstorms, analyze things, doodle, etc.
My journals are a bit of a mess in that sense, but I've found them very useful in identifying patterns of my own behaviour and bad habits to be changed and such.
I've found my work journal VERY useful in covering my ass as well as keeping track of key milestones and achievements.
I only document administrative stuff nowadays but sometimes it's good to write down your thoughts to help get them in order, and to stop your head from exploding.
i have an online journal but its full of prompt because i dont think i would get anything out of coming up with things to talk about instead of given a topic
