Well they do have assisted suicide in some states for the terminally ill who would rather die on their own terms to escape the constant pain and drugs that keep them temporarily alive.
@Daniela1982 yes, I live in one of those states. Absent that people often commit suicide by not eating or drinking. It’s so common that it has an acronym: VRFD — Voluntarily Refused Food and Drink.
What? Where did they get the gun or rope? I have never heard of this in all the wild life shows I have ever watched. Are you making this up?
@Daniela1982 I read that in an article once such a question came up on here I think (or the other community I'm in), and I didn't read of methods as to how these animals commit suicide, but e. g. in the tv series "How I met your Mother" in the episode where Lily sells her selfmade pictures to vets, one vet discovers that birds would commit suicide by flying into a fan, or another one flew against a window. I think animals could also commit suicide by not running away from predators. But I can try to find that article again of course.
Birds die when landing on power poles, flying through windmills, and into windows, but I don't think any of them are intentional. Animals don't have that kind of reasoning ability with them thinking "I'm going to commit suicide!" They are just flying and don't know of the dangers that they usually look for - predators.
Oh really? I watched a documentary of a guy who got paralyzed neck down. He can't even breath himself. He's stuck in a breathing machine and 8 hours every day his in this other machine that sucks goo out of his lungs and he describes it's like a torture machine. He's mad at the government because euthanasia is illegal and his planning a trip to Netherlands so he can end his miserable suffering. Now to say this guy nope, you have to keep going is either incredibly stupid or cruel.
@Soremain no offense man but you never know what your future has in store for you. Nor do you know if something will be better, but death isn't something that's gonna help anyone. Yea you will be free but whats on the other side thats awaiting you. It might be even more pain or maybe not no one knows so why kill yourself just because life is difficult yes i can understand why someone of his predicament would kill himself but like i said you may never know what could happen
Some things are just incurable, it's foolish to wait some kind of miracle or say "you never know for sure". And yes death helps the one who is suffering, also the people who love you would want you to be free from suffering so it helps them too, even if it makes them sad. Everyone has to die anyway and there will always be people sad about it, no way around it, but there is away around prolonged suffering and waiting for the inevitable so why not use that option. If your answer to the question "Why live when your life is only suffering" is "You never know what might happen in the future". That's practically same as saying "I don't have an answer, but I might have in the future" But there is a very good and obvious answer for "Why die if your life is only suffering". So I don't see how can you support the living option.
@Soremain honestly i just don't see how death would be a option, but if you start suffering for whatever reason and u just wanna give up and find a easy way out then go for it
What you mean you don't see how death would be an option? IT IS an option AND inevitable thing we all are going to face. Or do you mean you don't see how it would help? Well that's the most obvious thing too. If your experience is only suffering, and that's undesirable and the help you need is to remove this experience of suffering and the only way to remove the experience of suffering is dying, then that's the ONLY helpful thing. I don't understand how this so obviously simple thing is so hard to understand.
@Soremain Death comes for us all and personally i want my death not be of suicide but of natural causes or something. I just wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror knowing that one day i just kill myself because of the pain
And what you mean by "easy way out" In the example I gave about this guy it's THE ONLY WAY OUT. And I don't see what's wrong with picking the easy way. Do you make everything in your life harder than it could be? Of course not, we all want to make things easier all the time. But now all of the sudden it's the most lame thing to do rofl.
That's very naive thing to say. You haven't experienced being paralyzed in a breathing machine, you never know what you think then, right? And I just can't see what's so shameful of ending your life in that situation. Seems really stupid, pointless and limiting principle to hold on to, but you do you.
I mean I get that if you have hard times in your life but there is possibility to overcome them, then it's pitiful and cowardly to end your life. But if you are in a state if incurable suffering and no reason to live, there is nothing noble and prideful to keep suffering and waiting for natural death, that's just stupid as fuck to be honest.
