The Grinch is initially a character who absolutely hates Christmas and even wants to “cancel” Christmas. Furthermore he confiscates/loots the entire town’s Christmas gifts. The commie bastards hate Christmas as well but because it’s a religious holiday. Communist totalitarian regimes even banned Christmas. Furthermore, Communists are notorious for confiscating religious and private property.
However, at least the Grinch has a change of heart at the end of the story who redeems himself by returning all the gifts he stole to all the rightful owners and recognizes the beauty of Christmas.
Yes the Grinch is a commie bastard until the climax of the story
Is the Grinch initially a commie bastard who hates Christmas?

Really, the Grinch is owed a debt of gratitude. He helped to remind people that Christmas isn't about capatilist commercialism. People have made Christmas all about physical things. Gifts and buying. The Grinch reminded people that those aren't the point and you don't need any of it for Christmas. Personally, I think it would be better if we didn't do all that. Just spend time with your family, worship if that's your thing. The gifts, lights, etc. are just a distraction. Materialistic greed that taints the holiday.
No Christmas cost 4 billion dollars a year in the US alone most of which goes to China and of course companies all take huge production hits from ether complete shut downs or minimum employees which costs even more money he clearly is a capitalist he steal presents which he obviously intended to resell elsewhere for profits

Based on German folklore. It’s a Christmas demon I think. Commies were not around back then, we just had other plagues.
