Yes. Not because it would be naturally occurring but because the technology to make a manmade zombie apocalypse type virus exist and we know of several diseases that give certain aspects of zombie behavior so... someone could create an airborne virus that makes people act just like zombies.

It's not likely that the end result would be people being wiped out tho. In real life there's always some people with immunity to a given disease and assuming they are dumb zombies, people can easily organize to kill them. If they were smart zombies that's more difficult.

In October I took my car to get snow tires put on at the tire store. Since there was about a 6 hour wait, I decided to walk to the McDonald's nearby. I couldn't go inside, because the doors were locked. I couldn't order through the drive-thru, because I didn't have a car.
I asked the gal at the window when they would be opening the doors to the public. She said, "November 1st."

I asked her what's changing in one week? She said she has no clue, but that's when the doors will open.

When my father warned me about the dumbing -down of America, I never believed him.
