What kind of house would you want to live in if you were rich?

I’d be more concerned with the land than the house. I’d want it to be secluded, forested, and lakefront, with a dock for a bass boat, or I guess I could even do a boathouse. The house itself I’d want to be decently sized but not huge, and I’d want a pretty open floor plan. I’d rather have a whole floor be the master bedroom than have 3 bedrooms. The bedroom would have two connected bathrooms, one for me, one for my lady, and I guess twin walk-in closets/dressing rooms while we’re at it. I’d want a nice kitchen because I like to cook, and a living room with high ceilings. Underground I’d want an indoor pool with a grotto and tiki bar, then a man-cave area/lounge. I’d want a screened-in porch area outside, and an outdoor patio. Oh, and maybe like a three-car garage. I like kind of a chalet style home with some mid-century modern influence, big windows, lots of timber and stone.

I love the neighborhood and house I live in right now.
I have an apartment in the rear of the house I'd eliminate and use the entire space for myself. I could add a proper guest room, redo the unused bathroom I can't afford to fix, create a guest bathroom from the apartment, create a backyard deck with an awning, have an inside tool/lawnmower/powerwasher/carpentry area with machines to do woodwork, have a firepit for cool evenings, upgrade my composting, have a garden shed. Put in a lap pool, upgrade the water heaters to those mini ones, install solar panels and a battery storage unit that would allow me to be off the grid if there's a power outage.
Get antiques and some new furniture where needed. Redo my kitchen with top appliances.
Have beautiful wood floors in my entire house. Some need extensive repairs. Have all house repairs done on my 100 year old home. Upgrade internet access, get new computers. Install an inside fireplace!
I'd just add bells and whistles. No need to relocate. Where I am is a great location. I have great neighbors and it's close to everything.

When I was a kid I wanted to live in the Pittock Mansion in Portland. Now that I've grown up a bit I realize it would be a full time job just dusting the place every day. I couldn't even afford the property taxes on such a place.

I'd buy a trailer park lot and build a secret underground lair and lab beneath it. Then rent out the lots above and rent one of the lots, myself. I would hire a manager to hire someone else to collect the rent and not tell them about me. Then I'd slowly and secretly convert all the trailers into drones i could control remotely to connect together into a giant tank with an electromagnetic wrecking ball, firing the ball into the sky to magnetically attract other drones I would use for parts to create more trailers. And I'd also randomly bang some of the trailer park girls until i found one that was just as mischevious as me which I'd then reveal my secret and we would build a literally underground kingdom sustained by the peasant class above ground that spreads across a continent.

Owning a big house is not the most important thing - the most important thing is knowing how to keep it clean and organized and coloured coded and technologically relevant. If you look at Shaquille O'Neal's mansion - it is gigantic - but the colours are ugly and dull and unimaginative and the mansion James Rothschild lives in is styled in 1930s and 1950s images, colours and architectural styles - I would prefer to live in a budget hotel in Cuba for 4 months to living in James Rothschild's humongous dwelling cause the colours are ugly and out of fashion and the technology of his home is old.

I've always dreamed of building my own custom home, especially the rooms that I love like kitchen and bathroom, with different styles and features that I don't see in standard homes. So if I were rich, I would want a nice chunk of property, maybe between 20-200 acres, and I would build my own structure (s) on it.

I don't need or want a mansion for myself, but I would want to either have enough space or build a separate structure that was big enough I could host visitors. I'm thinking 3-5 extra bedrooms so I could host Thanksgiving or if a family or two of 4-5 people visited me they could have rooms to themselves.

Honestly I would just upgrade to a nice, high-rise apartment in a more desirable location, with a better view, and a bit more square footage. I don't and won't ever need enough space to justify a regular house, so things like location and aesthetics are more important to me.

I would buy a huge piece of land by the water (ocean or river) where I don't see anyone, and there was wildlife on it, and I would put a medium sized home on it.

Probably three homes on it. One for my mom, one for my sister and one for me.

Then I would have a green house, a pool, and a dock we can share and just enjoy the nature.

Would work on my motorbikes there, businesses, other projects, have a climbing gym, slackline and few other fun things. Second floor in a corner would be for sleeping and other stuff.

Only bathroom and storage area have interior walls, otherwise all open.

Thankfully i'm really close to making it a reality. Just need to find a decent plot of land i would likento live in.

I do not need material things to validate me. A simple house is fine. Take a look at Warren Buffets house. The same house he started out with, nothing fancy, but fits his needs and desires. I would use the extra money to buy buildings and such to help the homeless and less fortunate. Spread the love for those that got me the millions.
