I'm not used to getting compliments so when I do I only know how to say thank you very awkwardly? How should I be responding
Just say "thanks". The things you shouldn't do is ask "why" or start to argue about the validity of the compliment.
Even if you don't agree with the compliment, just go with it. If you argue about their favorable opinion of you, it will end in disaster.
And if you ask "why", it comes across as you not believing what they are saying about you. So don't do that.
Thank you, very nice of you to say that, you're very kind. All great responses to say, if you believe it or not.

I used to emotionally reject them and deflect because it did not align with how I felt… my early trauma.
I now accept them or ask more questions so I hear more positive details.
There is a trust element to this… if it feels manipulative you have to learn to handle without being manipulated
Depends on the compliment and the person. If it's about my physical looks, I'm always going to be in disbelief, think that' you're making fun of me...
if it's about like what I'm wearing, I like what I'm wearing too so I'll be enthusiastic about it haha
If it's about something I'm doing, most of the time I dont think I'm doing that great, but thanks anyway haha
An awkward thank you is better than my ex boyfriend's response. I was very attracted to him and very time I geniounly complimented him, he would say "yeah right" or "as if" or other insecure responses. It turned me off and made me think twice before I complimented him again.
Don't be my ex-boyfriend.

Ways to Respond to a Compliment
When someone pays you a compliment, it’s important to know how to respond in a way that is both professional and polite.
Here are a few tips on how to do just that:
1. Smile and say thank you. This is always a good way to start.
2. If the compliment is about your work, you can say something like, “I’m glad you like it.”
3. If the compliment is about your appearance, you can say something like, “Thank you, I feel great today.”
4. If you’re not sure how to respond, you can always just say, “Thank you, I appreciate it.”
5. Whatever you do, don’t downplay the compliment or brush it off. Accept it graciously and with a smile.
How to Respond to a Compliment Flirty
When it comes to responding to a compliment, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, be sure to thank the person for the compliment. Second, keep it short and sweet - there's no need to go into a long-winded explanation about why you're so great. And finally, if you're feeling flirty, you can add a little bit of flirtation to your response.
Here are a few examples of how to respond to a compliment flirty:
- Thank you! I appreciate the compliment.
- Thank you, I'm glad you think so!
- Thank you, you're too kind!
- Thanks, I think you're pretty great yourself!
- Thanks, I love compliments from you!
How Do You Respond to Compliments Politely
When someone pays you a compliment, it’s only natural to want to say something back. But, sometimes, it’s hard to know how to respond to a compliment in a way that sounds both polite and genuine.
Here are a few tips on how to respond to compliments politely:
1. Say “thank you.”
This is always a good place to start. It’s simple and gracious, and it shows that you appreciate the compliment.
2. Don’t downplay the compliment.
If someone says you did a great job, don’t say, “Oh, it was nothing.” Just say “thank you.”
3. Don’t fish for more compliments.
If someone pays you a compliment, resist the urge to fish for more compliments by saying things like, “Do you really think so?” or “What do you like best about it?” Just say “thank you” and move on.
4. Don’t make it about yourself.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t turn it into an opportunity to talk about yourself. For example, if someone compliments your dress, don’t say, “Thanks, I just got it on sale.” Just say “thank you.”
5. Don’t compare yourself to others.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t immediately start comparing yourself to others. For example, if someone says you’re a great singer, don’t say, “Oh, I’m not as good as Adele.” Just say “thank you.”
6. Don’t dismiss the compliment.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t immediately dismiss it. For example, if someone says you’re beautiful, don’t say, “Oh, I don’t know about that.” Just say “thank you.”
7. Don’t argue with the compliment.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t argue with them. For example, if someone says you’re smart, don’t say, “No, I’m not.” Just say “thank you.”
8. Don’t be vague.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t be vague in your response. For example, if someone says you’re a great friend, don’t just say, “Oh, thanks.” Say “Thank you, I’m really glad to be your friend.”
9. Don’t forget to pay compliments yourself.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t forget to pay them one back. Compliments are a two-way street, after all.
10. Have fun with it.
If someone pays you a compliment, don’t take yourself too seriously. Just have fun with it and enjoy the moment.

I either just say "oh thaanks" - normally or I will say "Yeah i already knew haha just kidding thaanks"
And depending if I like something on them, I do give compliments backI might be a positive person but I struggle with my inner conflicts. So when I receive a genuine compliment, I barely feel anything and take it as a statement. I need time to heal 😊 I have learned to be more appreciative and it got a little bit better.
Being a lead vocalist in bands since I was 15, I've had countless compliments, even on bad days. I still blush and feel like I can't thank them enough. Kind of the same when getting a Christmas gift you're really not excited about, but still very appreciative.
Depends on the compliment.
If you compliment me on my job, I’ll probably respond with “I know!”.
If you compliment me on something else i’ve done well, i’ll probably say, “Thanx for noticing!”
If you compliment me on my appearance i’ll laugh.
If a compliment is obviously contrived, i’ll ignore it completely.Awkwardly. I’m not good with compliments. They completely throw me off. With family I try to act casual but if a random stranger or coworker were to compliment me I find it awkward and try to say thank you but that’s just awkward too
I say thank you and feel and act awkward. I don’t fully believe it and certain compliments from guys like about my body/looks make me feel uncomfortable. But if I like them then a lot of times I’ll give them a compliment back
It makes me feel good and I get happy whenever I get a compliment to me it’s one of the best feelings so I smile and say thank you 😁 but I guess there has been times where it has been awkward and I’m like🤨 thank you?
I saw thank you in a chipper tone and pay them a compliment back. Not about to share my secrets on what I resort to if I can't find anything nice to compliment a person on though. 😂
Same I'm not used to them so I get embarrassed. I just smile and say thank you. There's nothing wrong with wha you're doing but if you don't smile then smile genuinely.
Well, for example, if someone says
"You have a nice smile,"
You should say:
"Fuckin' A."I just assume they're joking since I honestly doubt anyone would compliment me honestly. I'd just say "thank you" and move on.
I like to say thank you and give them a genuine complement in return. Like if they the
If someone says "Wow, you're so beautiful!"
Say, "Yep! And I'm smart too."I don't many so most times I don't even notice the subtle ones. The obvious ones takes me a min to process.. Also it's different if it's a stranger or friends and family. Usually friends and family I consider fake..
I don't. I just give a deaf ear to that. I totally dislike hearing any type of compliments.
A simple thank you, with a smile while blushing ☺️☺️
A simple thank you that’s very sweet is enough! :) don’t overthink it!
Try and swerve it like I’m in the dodgeball film
I don't know... Im with you on this it feels weird
You should respond by saying "I know, thank you"
