Would you buy a house where someone had died?

It's much cheaper than the other houses in the neighborhood and it's a really nice house that can suit your needs.

Would you get it or would the fact that someone died there make you not want to get it?
Updates:
Ok let's get more specific. where someone has either been murdered or committed suicide. Would you buy it?

  • Lol I think a TV series inspired your question.

Because I saw exactly the same situation on a TV drama. :P

To answer your question, even if I knew that there's nothing in the house,

but still I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

A bad ominous accident happened in it, so I wouldn't like it.

    • Now I'm sure this question got inspired by a TV series, lol :P

Because the lady of the house in that drama committed suicide,

and her husband wanted to sell the house with a cheap prize.

      My answer won't change.

Especially if a horrible crime happened in the house.

  • Hmm after seeing Sinister no!

I don't think I would because that's just very negative and could get into my mind.

However, if someone had a heart attack or died of some other natural cause..even something like falling down stairs I think I could handle it.

  • the death thing wouldn't bother me, even if someone had been murdered bloodily I could handle,

but I would feel weird buying a house where someone committed suicide...i don't believe in ghosts but I would feel weird about living somewhere associated with prolonged unhappiness

  • maybe not straight afterward but yeah I'd buy it,

it's not like I believe in ghosts

the only thing I wouldn't like, is that the house may have a reputation for being scary to the town so people might ignore you or teenagers break in

  • as someone else said, I would as long as it wasn't a violent death. I would think that the previous owners would be happy someone is making a happy family in that home.

  • It is a fact that houses were people have died in them, get devalued dramatically. I wouldn't and I can see why. I don't believe in ghosts, but knowing somebody died there, just gives the house a really bad vibe.

  • Hell yeah, I'd buy. I don't care even if there was a massacre happened. I get for cheap prize. I'd go for the deal. Only if there are real time problems living in that house like the neighborhood is not safe and stuff like that, I'd refrain.

  • as long as it wasn't bloody or a murder.. you can refurnish it.. by now it's hard to live in any older homes that someone hasn't died in

  • do you mean that its haunted cause someone got killed there? I would buy it and make sure everything they owned isn't still in the house.

  • No, I wouldn't buy the house.

Sometimes my thoughts can wander off even though I don't want to, and it would creep me out to think about what have happened. I would never be able to be alone in the house.

On top of that, I would be terrified if the spirit still was in the house or something.

IF I were to consider buying the house, and that would only be because it was my dream house, dream neighborhood and great people around. Then I would have to call for a specialist to see if the spirit still was there, and eventually get it back to where it belongs.

  • Someone died in my house -natural cause- and it doesn't feel any different :)

As for a previous murder or suicide, as long as I feel some nice vibes when I'm visiting the house, it's fine with me.

I wouldn't buy it if I keep having chills down my spine, or have a really bad feeling about it, but I guess it would be this way for any house I visit :)

  • It wouldn't bother me.

I lived in an apartment for 4 years - the previous tenant had died and not been found for several days. They cleaned everything, new carpet and paint, etc. I never cared and never had any trouble.

There were actually a few friends that refused to come over for that very reason though.

    People can be silly.

    • @update - the tenant died of natural causes, but a woman had been raped in that same apartment before I lived there as well. Surprisingly, it was in a really nice neighborhood too. Haha!

I don't associate being there with what happened there.
