I don't even know how it would work if I proposed to him. I'm pretty sure, he wouldn't want to wear a diamond ring. And something doesn't feel right about buying myself a big shiny diamond. I don't even know if I want one anyway. It seems as such a waste of money.
I didn't mean buy him a diamond ring, I meant buy your own ring so he doesn't have to pay for it. You should be the one offering to pay for everything if you're proposing, because it is really desperate to ask someone to buy a wedding for you.

Because it's a tradition. Where I live it is expected of a guy to propose. I'm pretty sure my family would disapprove if I've proposed instead of my boyfriend (but it's not really their choice now, is it?)...
Where I live it's unusual but totally acceptable
I can imagine proposing to him. Asking him to propose I find desperate...
Well, I never doubted that he loves me and that he means the things he is saying. However, I think proposing is not easy. I know he wants to marry me, I just think that figuring out what I like, what ring should he buy or whatever can be overwhelming for him. We are both adults and I was thinking that if he doesn't propose by some time I will propose to him.
