Why would you be mad at that? He is a free man to do what he wants... she is a free woman to respond. It's not cheating or malicious to talk to another female even if it is your good friend. Now, if the context of what he is saying is questionable, sure. But from what you saying... that's a friend asking a potential friend how they are doing. Nothing wrong with that.
