Is it better to lie that you're busy or tell the truth that you don't want to spend time with someone?

Rodgerinho
This is primarily for relationships, where you already spend a lot of time together, like every minute available basically, and the person potentially telling the lie is just looking for time to themselves, and by saying they're going to do that, their partner gets disappointed.

Basically how do you curb enthusiasm without completely losing it when someone is relatively crazy about you and you care about them but just like time to yourself as well? It's probably an aspect of being an introvert.
Would you rather be lied to, that the person is busy?
