Yes, I was sexually assaulted by someone who wouldn't take no for an answer. I recognized that he was controlling and abusive, and I often shut him down whenever he said he wanted something from me. I couldn't understand how he ever had relationships in the past that lasted any length of time as he seemed so impossible. Anyway, as I first mentioned it ended badly due to his toxicity.

I've also been able to recognize toxicity and avoid it, but what I found interesting was how the toxic person wouldn't back off from being toxic. Instead, they'd double down on their bad behaviour as if to punish me.

I remember on a dating site many years ago, someone sent me a message, I read their profile and decided that based on how they looked and what they chose to say - I declined. I had a habit of always saying, "Thanks for the message, good luck with your search." Anyway, he wouldn't stop. He badgered me incessantly thereafter, and even found me on Facebook to continue badgering me. It's as if he knew he wasn't getting anywhere, so he wanted to be in my life even if it was for negative reasons. He's now a memory of what a toxic, abusive person looks like and I tell this story to people to know how to shut these people down. Trust your gut, and know that if it doesn't feel right, it's likely not. Don't play with these people. Just ignore.

Yes. I’m sure everybody has at some point or will. I’ve had two, and as you said fortunately nothing ever happened. But that’s because the interest wasn’t mutual. I just wasn’t into them, they weren’t my type.

Yes, I'd say a couple in my life one business and one family. I had to actually learn to deal with them because I had to but sometimes all you can do is figure out good boundaries and be firm with them. It's a lesson I'm still trying to learn myself 😅

'Maybe' would be my answer. Wasn't exactly pursued but she did befriend me, became close then ghosted me and then spread rumours in the office that I was a pervert. Luckily she resigned and is no longer around.

Yes, more frequently lately (probably due to the pandemic and unique struggles arising) and it’s actually a bit perplexing... I’ve recently observed that the notion that men are “more straightforward and less emotional than women (men run on logic)” is a thing of the past. Many men actually seem more emotional (which I love), but don’t know how to express it (unfortunately), so they end up either misdirecting stress / overthinking, or completely shutting down (appearing cold)... sometimes even interchangeably, which causes contradictory behavior without a proper explanation. Toxicity further arises when men let their pride interfere. More often than not, pride seems to be the underlining factor to toxicity (and that goes for most people). Some men feel that since they are men, they can and should handle all problems themselves, which results in the refusal of help, while simultaneously pushing away loved ones / hurting everyone around them (like it would be easier for everyone if they would just let people be there for them, but those kind of men always feel like they have something to prove... like noooo just relax and take it day by day, let me just love you). Especially men who try to keep up appearances by masking their problems with “fun times,” tend to me more prone to going hot and cold. I was speaking more generally, but on another note, I’ve been pursued by male friends who have tried to persuade me to replace their current girlfriends. Like wtf. That is SO selfish (how can men be with someone that they don’t give a heck for? I wouldn’t even treat my enemies with that much disrespect. I will never understand). They think that just because a man confesses their love, says “I love you, want to marry you, and have your kids” that woman will be willing to do whatever they ask / runaway with them. Men are psychopaths, truly. Or they have been lately... I don't know what’s going on really. I wish I had the answers.

Not to any extreme extent. I have had people not leave me alone or si. ply assume we are something because "we were in my head".

Yes. I've made the mistake in the past of actually finding a few Catfishes, who when I introduced myself, it was too late. They wouldn't leave me the Heck alone. Demanding money, time and stupid requests. Over time, I finally snapped. I stopped contact by changing my number. Blocking phones. It was terrible.
