How long do more your average relationship last?

I guess "average" for me right now is something like 5 years but there's a very wide range. The shortest was about 8 months. (I'm not counting one or two dates as a relationship.) The longest was my marriage which was 25+ years (though if we weren't married or didn't have kids we'd have probably ended it quite a few years before that). About half were less than a year. My current relationship is over 5 years and going well. Our goal is to both live long enough to have at least 30 years together.

My opinion based on my experience is that relationships between people that really don't belong together will likely fail within a year or so (assuming that you're spending a good bit of time together). Relationships between people that are somewhat compatible but not enough to stay together long term might last 3 years or so. (That's why I think it's a good idea to wait at least 3 years into a relationship to plan a wedding.) Even after that though, there are no guarantees because sometimes people change over time and people that were once compatible enough become incompatible.

2 years each for the first two. Fucking miserable. I didn't know them long enough to get to really know them. Fking miserable... horrible. I'd never felt so down in my life. Then my wife found me. Loved me through a lot of my stupid stuff. I wanted to get better but had years of bad habits and addiction to deal with. She really helped me actually grow up and didn't make me feel guilty for having a past full of mistakes. A true gem.

Not coming on relationships anymore, but talking about my young self :: Less than or maximum 2 months from my side because I can see everything clearly.
But however it gets stretched till 5 or 7 months because my exes used to beg me to stay and used emotional manipulation at me. I used to get fooled because I thought that they really loved me but it turned out they wanted me to stay because I had better status, was rich and beautiful so they only wanted to get laid asap. That's why there was constant buttering and lots of attempts involving pleasing me.
