It's better to trust or not trust?

I’ve always been a bit weary about trusting people. For some reason my natural instinct always told me that there’s more to someone or something than what appears on the surface level.


I then started having trust issues and I’ve now realised just how much easier life is when you let go and just trust. And with a high self esteem and enough confidence, you will be able to face any consequences that come from choosing to trust.


Now that’s for me, the right way to go. It’s much healthier.

I think it's better not to trust.

I'm at the point that if I engage with a particular person enough, they'll will start taking advantage of my trust in subtle ways, if not obvious.

It seems to be almost human nature to do acts that are seemingly dis-trustworthy.

In a society like this, most people don't seem to give a damn about integrity and I think the internet plays a part in that being more of the case.

For that reason, I don't hold ill feelings towards people, but for the sake of myself, I'm just not going to trust people.

Lack of trust means un easy fear. Too much trust in wrong places is abuse waiting to happen.

I’m not sure I’ve ever trusted anyone. Sometimes I don’t even trust myself. Like when I tell myself, just one last wank and then you really need to get on with work, but then I have at least three wanks and it’s like wtf were you just LYING to yourself?

I relate to this greatly... as someone who has been disappointed and hurt in the past (by those close to me) I completely understand.


In my personal opinion I think trust comes with time, and how well you know someone. Gradually, the better you get to know a friend the more you see how they react and respond to situations (and ultimately how reliable and kind-hearted they are).


One rule I have always lived by is if they are talking about others secrets to you, they likely won’t keep yours (unless you are BEST friends and you tell each other everything).

This is one of my big problems... I trust people way too often and too much, because I keep thinking that everybody has something good in them! Already had to learn this lesson many times but I do somehow still hold onto that same belief because you know, vicious clcle reasoning (every person's different, they deserve a chance etc etc etc.)

Watch good will hunting. I don’t trust anyone 100% at the moment but I do generally trust people who’ve earned it, yes. I find that if you surround yourself white the right kind of people, and know that everyone is only human, and you give them no reason to be excessively cautious, then yeah you can have good and happy relationships where trust isn’t really an issue.

When it is known that one can be trusted, that person is trustworthy. Worthy means that it has been earned in some why that is of apparent value since worth is part of the word. Trust is a treasure Make sure that it is earned because those who freely get it may not appreciate it

I say trust but not completely, if you put all your trust when they break it it will be horrible, whereas if you didn't completely trust them it won't hurt as much.

Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.
It's better to be prepared for the consequences.
It's like living in fear but when you get use to it.
You hardly make any mistake. And normally they are the small one from which you could learn and not repeat.
When it comes to trust, you have to be with that person like know them to the core.
If you know that you'll see it clearly whom to trust.

Woah! Deep one here. *Ideally*, everyone *should* be able to trust each other. Obviously, as a result of how the pattern-recognizing survival computers in our head operate and calculate, that isn't always possible.

I'm a firm believer that the real people with Trust Issues are those who trust too much. People have proven without fail that they can't be trusted, and the closer they are to you, the more likely they are to screw you over

I'd say not to trust. (At least, don't trust too much. Then if something goes not well, you won't feel vulnerable.)
