How can I learn my foreign lover's language?

I decided to learn his language for my foreign lover. How hard is it to learn a foreign language? How can I find out, what are your suggestions?

I forgot to mention in detail. My lover is a Turkish and he wants me to learn Turkish.

Hey dear gag members, not give duolingo suggestion. Street mouth, slang language and basic words are taught in duolingo. I want to speak this language like my mother tongue. There is also nothing more silly than learning a language from an app. Give reasonable suggestions, please.

Different languages, different difficulty. Exposure matters a lot. There are some simple apps you could look into. Duolingo and the likes. Of course if it is a useful language to kmow that also helps. Beyond that just force yourself to actually use it nonstop.

Tv is good if you can work out what they are saying, tv with sub titles or watch you tube video with your guy, have him translate bits and you translate or pause and ask questions.

Music with lyrics in English are okay but music on its own is very hard as you do not have context for the word.

Usually writing is a good way, however that is a bit of a problem , it’s not like learning German

Eh, actually it has. For example "Müdür" is director for men and "Müdüre" is director for women. Specially the words have come from Arabic or Persian to Turkish have gender discrimination. And there are many Arabic and Persian words in Turkish because of Islam and to be near to Arabia and Persia. And the additions, there are many additions in Turkish.

Geldiler -- They came etc etc
Understanding this is hard even for many Turks. And Turkish is agglutinating language. For example, "Çekoslavakyalılaştıramadıklarımızdan mısınız?" Its mean is "Are you one of those we couldn't make Czechoslavakian". Learning this language will be hard for you.

Yeah, i gave you this long word as an example. I wanted to say, your native language and ours belong to different language families. Turkish is agglutinating language. Understanding long words and using them in daily life may be hard for you. Because i sometimes see, even some Turks have difficulty in this topic. Firstly i said, Turkish is hard, i sometime make suprised how can i use this language. I said this because i thought and if i was a foreigner, it is almost impossible to understand these long words. When i was in secondary school, our Turkish teacher was learning us conjugate and my some classmates couldn't do it or have difficulty although we are Turkish. If i were you, to be honest i wouldn't wanna learn Turkish because you may he break with him? There is no guarantee in this job, the you will learn in vain and will tire yourself. If i wasn't Turk, i wouldn't wanna learn Turkish.

It isn't important i like or don't like Turkish language. I just wanna say, if i was born as a foreigner, i wouldn't wanna learn Turkish even my love is Turkish. Because knowing Turkish isn't useful in global area.

Yeah, you are right in this topic. But also Persian is poetic and romantic language. Did you read Omar Khayyam's rubais? If you didn't, i recommend you read. I read it in Turkish and listened it in Persian and also Persian is attractive. Why don't you learn Persian? Turkish is attractive language but it isn't international language so if i was born as a foreigner, i wouldn't wanna spent my time to learn it.

But persian alphabet is very scary and I have already put my mind to learn turkish for my turkish lover. And I think you shouldn't humiliate turkish so much. Turkish is an important language.
