What is this phrase: "You mean something to me"?

It could be a nice statement but the word "something" needs to be expanded on more. It's a strange word choice.
Otherrwise it's like saying nothing at all. Its a statement that conveys no information to the recipient

It would depend on the tone of their voice, but based on the context given, I guess this phrase means "You're important to me" to me.

However I think that sentence must mean something nice or good.
