One thing I learned when I started making my own money is that the more money I made, the less time I had to spend my earnings. I could reach all my financial goals in 1-3 years if I want to but that would mean sacrificing my friendships and my romantic interests and my leisure, I might not even have time for exercise of even religion if I work too hard.

All else equal, do you really think people would say no? If everything else is the same. Same affection, attention, personality etc. Who would not want their partner to make more? If not out of self-interest than for the sake of their partner?
Now is making a lot of money a key part to being a better boyfriend? No. Of course contributing matters though.

Being a better boyfriend. That means he can take his girlfriend out more often, finance dates and fun stuff for her. Or so they think how dating works. A broke guy stands no chances.

Sure if that is the only thing the girl wants from you but I figure she wants something besides money.
